Background
Neshala was born and raised on Orion Prime, and left home when she turned eighteen. While many Orions accepted the Syndicate as a given, and in fact they had even had provisional control of the Orion government for a time, Neshala never really enjoyed how they conducted business. The idea of slavery was abhorrent to her, and she was often mocked as a revolutionary, a fact that earned her the attention of the Syndicate’s enforcers on more than one occasion. Her mother, Zhirona, was a successful merchant within Orion society, owing largely to the fact that she willingly conducted business with the Syndicate and moved whatever goods they needed to have her move. As a result, Neshala also found herself frequently berated and belittled by Zhirona for endangering her way of life. And if her sisters were content with the lot the Syndicate had laid out for them, and her brothers accepting of the idea that they would become Syndicate members some day, Neshala was not. It was well and good for them, but it was not the life she wanted.
So, just after her eighteenth birthday, Neshala stowed away on a Lissepian freighter and effected her escape. Fortunately for her, the Lissepian never detected her presence and she debarked at the next spaceport he docked at. It wasn’t a Federation station, which is where Neshala really wanted to go, but it wasn’t in Orion held territory either, so she felt confident that her escape had been successful. Not having any money, Neshala was forced to find work to pay for her next trip, which was with a Boslic merchant who would be making a run for Starbase 12. Once she arrived at the station, she immediately sought out a Federation officer and requested to begin the process of gaining Federation citizenship. The station commander granted her asylum from the Syndicate and she remained on the station for almost a year while her request was processed. It would take another two years for her membership status to be granted, during which she was relocated to Earth and given remedial Federation Citizenship lessons. She was also afforded the opportunity to take other educational courses of her choosing and she elected to take several technical courses that she felt would help her chances of getting admitted to Starfleet Academy when she became eligible. Once her membership status was finally secured, Neshala immediately applied to Starfleet Academy, and owing to her recent technical education combined with a high aptitude score, she was granted admittance.
Upon graduating from Starfleet Academy, and now a specialist in communications and starship navigation, Neshala received her first commission at a listening outpost. It was a dull assignment, but she spent a little more than a year learning from her colleague and gaining new skills and knowledge. Finally, after her tour at the listening outpost was completed, she has now been transferred to the new Denali Station as the communications officer, with a split assignment as helm officer on the USS Eagle, NCC-74659.
Neshala is a very outgoing person, though she is quite fastidious and has a high degree of work ethic. She likes to work hard and play harder, and wants to be the life of every party. At work, she strives to be the best at what she does, and if she falls short, she works to improve her skills. She loves to study, but only so she can get better at whatever she does. She loves to fly, which is why she became a helm officer, and has an obsession with adrenaline-producing activities.

Ambitions and Goals
Neshala really has no long-term life goals at the time. She does wish to reach the highest levels of Starfleet that she possibly can, but realizes at the same time that very few actually succeed at that task. However, it doesn’t deter her from the attempt. She does hope to someday start a family, but considers that to be something to be explored many years in the future when she’s finished experiencing the single life. After all, there are so many fun options available to a single woman and she wants to explore them all.
Personal Achievements and Disappointments
One thing that Neshala is especially proud of is that she managed to avoid falling prey to the Orion Syndicate and their traps and criminal ways. While most on her world don’t really seem to give their activities a second thought, Neshala never really wanted to end up a slave girl somewhere. When she was old enough, she managed to stow away on a transport freighter and eluded detection long enough to make it to the next space station the freighter docked at, giving her a chance to have the kind of life she really desired.
Along with her escape from the clutches of the Syndicate, Neshala’s next biggest achievement was getting accepted into Starfleet Academy. And while she didn’t exactly graduate with honors, she did manage to graduate and was placed as a communications officer on her first command.
Neshala only had one thing that she really considered to be a disappointment. While she was working toward getting admitted to the Academy, she found herself falling for a rather attractive Caitian male. But to her continuing regret, he never returned those feelings and she has always wondered whatever became of the male.
Neshala is the fourth daughter born to an Orion woman who was a rather successful merchant operating under the provision of the Syndicate. She never really knew who her father was, though there was no doubt it was one of the many Orion male lovers her mother frequently took in. Due to the way she left Orion Prime, Neshala has lost all contact with her family and has no idea where they are, or if they are even alive. She would like to find out someday, however, whatever became of them.
Family
- Father: Unknown
- Mother: Zhirona
- Siblings:
- Four older sisters, two older brothers
- Two younger sisters
- Spouse: Never married
- Children: None
Parents
Neshala’s mother, Zhirona, was a successful trader operating under the oversight of the Orion Syndicate. In order to pay for their protection, Zhirona was often forced to undertake less than savory acts, though she never complained about them, accepting them as a fact of life and the price for doing business with the Syndicate. While Zhirona may have accepted this as normal and acceptable behavior, Neshala never wanted any part of it which is what led to her escape from the planet.
Siblings
Neshala has five sisters (four older, one younger) and two brothers (both older). With the lack of contact, she has no idea what has become of them, though she was never really close to any of them anyway.
