The Outpost and Ship

Amity Outpost is a deep space support station and diplomatic outreach facility operated by the Federation Diplomatic Corps.

Home to 2,245 people, of which 645 are Starfleet officers supporting the operations of the outpost, Amity is the Federation's most remote posting in the galaxy.

Amity is unique from the typical StarBase 118 ship in that we are a civilian outpost (run by the Federation Diplomatic Corps) that has Starfleet officers stationed there as well in a support role. This is basically a floating embassy in space, where Ambassador Vataix is the chief/head of mission and CO, and the Starfleet personnel assigned there ultimately report to her. As such, several of the civilian staff are being played by some players who also have a Starfleet character, too. Where this is the case, it is so noted under their duty post. There are also those players who are just playing purely a civilian character.

The list of all actual PLAYERS of Amity Outpost is here: Amity Master Crew List. The full list of characters on Amity including NPCs and personal NPCs (NPCs written exclusively by one player unlike general NPCs that can be written by anyone) is available here and obviously not meant to be the complete list of all 2,245 people on Amity: Amity NPCs

Amity's unique design and layout means that transportation around the stations is primarily via the "corkscrew" train system. More information can be found here: Amity Outpost Layout.

How does the Outpost communicate with the Federation?

Amity Outpost uses communication based on the Pathfinder Project and Operation Watson first shown in Voyager:

This means that Amity Outpost can receive regular mail updates from the Federation. Direct/live communication however is much more limited and must be scheduled to time with a certain window that opens up for a few minutes for a few days a month.

How is the Outpost supplied from the Federation?

In the StarBase 118 timeline, the quantum slipstream drive was introduced (with certain limitations such as a 36 hour cooldown and only in use aboard certain ships of a certain size and power. For instance, the Defiant class USS Independence-B does NOT have one). As such, Amity Outpost sees both quantum slipstream cargo ships and passenger liners. Even with the quantum slipstream drive, it still takes about a month to get from the core worlds of the Federation to Amity Outpost, which is the most remote Federation posting.

USS Independence-B

Amity Outpost's main support vessel is the Defiant class escort USS Independence-B.
