The Great Revolution of Til'ahn was an event which occurred in 2380, and was sparked by first contact with a sentient alien species (the United Federation of Planets).
The current government of Duronis II, at the time when the Federation has build their Embassy on the planet, is in its infantile stages after a massive coup the Til'ahn Great Revolution, and is lead by non-aristocratic civilian leaders.
Because the reformation was so recent, it is important to understand both the pre-Revolution and post-Revolution environments to comprehend the social atmosphere of Duronis.
Independent planet
Duronis II is currently a Political Sovereignty, with its own independent government. While there are three political powers (UFoP, Romulans, Zalkonians) vying to induct the Laudeans into their own confederations, the current planetary government remains neutral towards all suitors.
System
The current government of the planet was modeled on a coalition parliament.
The leader of the Laudeans is their Premier or Prime-Minister (currently, Zeon Zrong). He is the leader of the ruling political party (party with the most seats in the Laudean Parliament).
Elections take place planetwide. 246 seats out of 501 in parliament are needed for a party to have a majority and form a government. Parties may form coalitions after elections so as to form the government.
