The Illumini are a species of which not much is known. They are a somewhat strange addition to the Federation since they are somewhat of an isolationist kind, however they have the capability of manufacturing a high quality of dilithium crystals which ofter boosts engine efficiency with at least eight percent. This technology has been used by Starfleet with much gratitude on numerous occasions, especially during the Dominion wars and the construction of the Sovereign class starships.

Status

The Illumini are members in good standing, however much is to be learned about this species because of their isolationist society and government.

Physical Characteristics

The Illumini themselves are curious as well as their transgendered bodies appear to be formed from a purely transparent diamond like material. They are one of the very few humanoid biped species not made from standard biological flesh and blood. Their hairless transparent bodies and lack of detail like colored eyes, lips and flesh are known to have caused several unlucky encounters with species that simply could not understand and reacted in fear, rather then understanding the uniqueness of these peoples.

• Senses: Very much identical to a Terran, from touch, taste, scent, sight and sound. They possess no enhanced ability with their senses.

• Resistances: Starfleet scientists often wonder how such a species could have found life, as Federation biologists are puzzled how their hard bodies can actually move. Even more wondered about is their capacity to absorb energy of various kinds and use it to manipulate their bodies, giving them a temporal but impressive capability of slightly changing shape to one of equal mass, or make their bodies lit up by producing a blinding white light like effect from their inside out. This is believed an ancient and natural defense meganism which was developed millions of years ago. The Illumini can't, however, use this gift very often as it takes a huge toll on their bodies and minds, causing immense fatigue and massive drops in body energy. Despite of their isolationist based existence, the Illumini are considered very wise when it concerns knowledge of the galaxy. Several saga suggest they are not naturally indigenous to our galaxy. This has however never been proven and will remain to be just good bedtime stories or interesting tales of mystery.

Physiology & Physiological Requirements

• Breathing Conditions: There are 'none'. The Illumini are capable of surviving without any atmosphere as long as their energy reserves can last. It has been known some Illumini have survived the coldness and vacuum of space for several months, replenishing their energy from stars or any other natural or in-natural energy sources.

• Gravity Conditions: Their tough and hard bodies make them capable of surviving in zero-gravity up to high gravity worlds, limited only by the stress their harder-then-diamond bodies can handle. Their movements will be limited though, depending on the amount of gravity.

• Growth Period: The Illumini are born deep within their planet's cold crust in, what is called by them, the lagoon of life. Unlike most species, the Illumini do not have parents as we know them, no 'mother' of 'father'. They are created by a chemical and natural process within the lagoons and are brought up by groups of people simply known as caretakers. A member of the Illumini race reached adulthood after 18 years, just like the humans. Their lifespan however is many times more then that of a human. Theory proclaims the Illumini should be able to reach several thousand years of age before their capacity of absorbing energy is reduced to zero percent.

The Illumini prefer to keep a low profile to remain 'unseen'. This mostly has to do with their history with other space-fairing species, who often are afraid by their odd bodily structure and appearance.

Interstellar Location

As stated before, their home-planet Crysta Alpha lies deep within Federation space in the regions nearby Gamma Tauri.

Government

Their home-planet Crysta Alpha lies deep within Federation space in the regions nearby Gamma Tauri. Invisible for sensors and even for the naked eye most of the times, their world is being considered quite unique due to this natural phenomena. The very few humanoids who actually seen or visited the planet nicknamed it the 'Glass Giant' due to its transparent like attributes. Twice during its planetary cycle circling their two stars, one pulsar and a white dwarf, the planet absorbs and reflects the stars' energetic light which makes it seem to illuminate the various planets in their system.

Technology

It is mostly unknown to what extent their technology lies. Sufficient to say they are a warp-capable species and have a vast knowledge of manufacturing a high quality of dilithium crystals which ofter boosts engine efficiency with at least 8 percent. Due to their bodily structure, the Illumini have had very few need of medical knowledge. Their scientific knowledge of the fabric and traits of the Galaxy however has been named 'impressive' by scientists from all over the galaxy on numerous occasions.

Economy

Like The Federation the Illumini see no need in enriching themselves with currency. They have always worked as a species to better themselves.

Government

They are governed by representatives of the more powerful families. This group is called the Presidum.

Description

They are a species of fish-like humanoids and have purplish-silver scales. They very seldom ever leave their homeworld due to the trauma to their systems caused by space travel.

Physiology

They are an amphibious species with dual breathing systems that are interconnected in such a way as to provide excellent breathing capabilities. Their hearing and visual abilites are less than normal for most intelligent humanoid species when out of the water.

Their preferred method of dealing with the trauma of space travel is a self-induced catatonic state, during which they can rest standing up. Their half-shut eyes fully open upon awakening, a process that takes several hours. They then proceed to eat large quantities of vermicula.

Economy

They export ultritium which is a high explosive. It can be easily formed for many uses. One such was to line the robes of terrorists that tried to blow up a Federation Membership Conferance.

Federation Intelligence Files

On stardate 42859.2, several Antedeans were revealed by Ambassador Lwaxana Troi to be conspiratory assassins bent on sabotaging their planet's Federation membership conference on Pacifica. Investigations proved that the Antedean ambassador was an agent of a small terrorist group. Since then, the Antedean government has gone to great lengths to disavow any authorization of this plot. The Antedeans have gained membership in 2372.

History

By the mid-23rd century, Zeon had been living in peace for many generations, and had developed the beginnings of interplanetary spaceflight. Noticing the state of anarchy among the warlike, pre-spaceflight Ekosians, many Zeons came to Ekos in an effort to help their neighbors learn peaceful ways. Sometime after 2218, a Zeon colony was established on Ekos.

After the cultural contamination of John Gill and the takeover of the Nazi regime by Melakon, Zeons became a hunted people on Ekos. Using the Nazi model, Melakon used the presence of Zeons in much the same way as Adolf Hitler used the Jews of Germany and Europe, scape-goats to be blamed for Ekos' problems and eventually a threat to be eliminated. With the technology elicited from Gill, Melakon rapidly upgraded Ekosian weapons. By 2268, the "Final Decision", an genocidal invasion on the planet Zeon, was preparing for deployment.

The USS Enterprise, assigned to discover what had happened to John Gill, arrived just before the launch of the invasion against Zeon. The intervention of Kirk, Spock and McCoy roused Gill in time to call-off the attack, and Gill recanted his beliefs to Kirk as he died, insisting that the Prime Directive was "the only way".

The regime created by Gill and Melakon proved to be weaker than their German model. The Nazi government and the "Final Decision" was not embraced by all of Ekos. An underground alliance of Zeons and Ekosians had formed, including high-level Nazi party members who wanted no part in the genocide. Kirk's actions allowed the Zeon Isak to kill Deputy Führer Melakon. Afterwards, there appeared to be no impediment to the worlds working together. Spock observed that the union of the two cultures would make a fine addition to the Federation.

However while both planets have continued to develop peacefully many of the Zeons have returned to their own world. While they are still on peaceful terms with the Ekosians and most of the people who lived through the insanity have passed on their is still a faint undercurrent of belief that has prevented them from becoming allies.

Government

They have a council of elders that represents all 8 regions on the planet. The only requirements for membership on this council is that the individual must be 50 years of age or more and have at least 2 different degrees in 2 different fields of study.

Description

They are peace-loving pacifists who, physically are almost indistinguishable from Nordic and European archatypes on the planet Earth.

Physiology

Other than a few minior chemical and hormonial differance's their physiology is fairly close to that of the Ekosians. Both species have many similarities with Terrans.

Psychology

On the whole they tend to be fairly stable mentally as a race however they also seem to be genetically predisposed to avoiding conflict and any act of aggression.

Religion

They believe that regardless of the species that all individuals are brothers. All a part of the same universal family. Created by the same spirit that created the universe it self. This being, the Creator watch's over all.

Technology

They tend to be a very intelligent species and excel in technological advancements as is evident by their arts and sciences. Due to their genetic disposition towards finding peaceful solutions to problems they are natural diplomats and a generous people. They are very open to sharing their discoveries with their neighbors.

However because of the shared history with the Ekosians they have adobted a different policy with them. While they will share all medical knowledge as soon as it has been proven to be useful they do not pass on other technology until it has become obsolete for them.

Economy

They have a very well developed internal as well as external trade system. As a result they export and import a wide variety of items.

Military

They have never had a military force and still do not. However they have built and placed into orbit a large number of defensive satelites and a few deep space scanners and advance warning systems.
