Homeworld: Dahri IV

History

The Dahri originated in the salt water oceans that cover most of the surface of their homeworld. It was here that they learned the use of tools, language and the other basic first steps needed in order to progress towards true civilization.

Eventually they developed the ability to live both in and out of the water. This allowed them to develop new tecnologies faster.

Once they had advanced to the point where space travel was possible they built ships and explored all the systems within reach. As they advanced, learned to build better vessels and met with and interacted with other races they developed into a kind of pirate, merchant class.

Now they could put the Ferengi to shame with their ability to not only turn a profit, but smile while pulling not only a double cross but stealing every thing not nailed down.

Government

The Dahri have a council form of government. In order to earn a seat on the council each applicant must own at least 1 Slaver class ship. This is a light cruiser. All the members of the council meet this requirement. A persons position on the council is determined by the number of ships he owns.

Description

Dahri.jpgThese bald humanoids have hands with 3 long tentacle like fingers. They also have about a dozen tentacles growing on their face around their mouth. They are a strange blend of octupus and humanoid. They all like to wear large brimmed hats to shade their eye's from the sun. They also like to wear large coats, loose pants and boots.

Physiology

They have a soft skeleton. It allows their bones to bend a lot with out breaking. Their internal organs are protected by the fact that they are very elastic. In fact they can squirm their whole body through an opening less than half their true body size.

Psychology

They think anything is ok if it makes them a profit. After all they are the best. Everyone else just wish's they were as cool and trust worthy as they are.

Religion

They have no religion.

Mythology

They have a variety of tales, most have to do with the survival of the fittest. Dahri against the universe. Dahri vs the wildlife, most noticeably the Jendorvak's for food, life and survival.

Society

Their society has developed into a kind of pirate merchant mentality. Everyone works to try and advance his position, make more money. With money they can eventually buy their own ship, recruit their own crew and make their own fortune. Maybe even earn a seat on the council.

Culture

They have no true culture. No art, music or dance.

Customs

Death Match

A Captain can be challenged by a high ranking member of his crew if that crewmember can pay the challenge price. (which is very high) The battle is to the death. No rules. The winner becomes or stays the captain.

Keelhaulin

This is when a crewman is punished. They are forced to enter an air lock then the door is opened and they are vented out into space. It is a very effective way of dealing with any rebellious attitudes among the crew.

They will use any and all other races as slaves if they think they can get away with it.

Technology

They have an average level of technology. They do not have teleporters or replicaters.

Military

They don't have any true military. What they do have is a very large fleet of tradeing vessels that are very well armed. Each Captain has his own agenda and will ship a variety of races as crew. They may also have made various upgrades to their vessel as no two are trully the same regardless of the class.
