The Helm Duty Post, (also known as Conn or Flight Control Officer) is a position aboard starships of any size. This officer plots the course of the vessel, supervises the computer's routing and piloting, and corrects any flight deviations as necessary. In certain situations, a Helm officer may be required to manually pilot the vessel without the assistance of the automated computer systems.
On starbases and planetary bases, Flight Control Officers instead take the role of shuttle and auxiliary vessel operators.
