Personal History
Brought up on a heritage farm in North Carolina by her grandfather, Julia enjoyed a free, open childhood. The only cloud over these early years was the death of her parents. Both of them had been borderline alcoholics and had been killed in a accident whilst trying to get home. Julia had been left home alone while her parents were out getting illegal beverages. She was three at the time. It was here grandfather, Grandpa Jess, who came and got her. He raised her on his farm and enlightened her mind with stories of the past. Tales of explorers crossing the oceans. Julia had laughed at these stories at first. Even at three she believed the oceans were too small to be explored, it was space that was being explored! Grandpa Jesse informed her of the beginning, how mankind built up their knowledge from sailing the seas to exploring the stars. She was hooked. By twelve she had read Homer's works through to the wonderful nonsense of Jules Verne. At first she wanted to pilot one of these starships. It was only when she reached the age of fifteen that she read of the discoveries of medicine in far off place, the scientific works being conducted in off-world colonies. The strings of her heart were being tugged. Medicine. That was where her future lay.
