Martina Shevchenko is an engineer who served as chief engineer of the USS Yuan Tseh Lee during the Dominion War. She survived a Jem'Hadar ambush on the Yuan Tseh Lee in 2373, an attack which killed most of the command crew.[1] She later began a romantic relationship with fellow survivor Joseph Washington, the Yuan Tseh Lee's operations officer who took command of the Yuan Tseh Lee during the attack. The two wed in 2375.
After the war, she left Starfleet to pursue a career in the private sector while Joseph remained in the service. The couple have two children.
