History
Airseé Lily Ventu obtained advanced degrees in psychiatry and xenopsychology before applying to the Federation Starfleet for officer training. As an officer, she spent a large part of her career (up through the rank of lieutenant commander) as a counselor aboard the exploratory vessel USS Victory. After a brief stint as a temporary command officer aboard the escort USS Triumphant, Lily accepted a posting as a diplomatic officer aboard Starbase 118, eventually attaining the rank of commander and brief overall command of the starbase's Starfleet operations. However, during a difficult situation on the colony world Beta Pictoris IV, Lily chose to resign her commission and negotiate the situation as a noncommissioned diplomat; and though Starfleet offered to reverse her resignation in the years that followed, she declined after she received an offer from the Federation Diplomatic Corps to serve as an official ambassador. She was later confirmed by the Office of the President as an ambassador and, three years later, as an ambassador-at-large serving Starbase 118 and its surrounding sectors, Trinity, Serellan, and Jenatris Cloud.
In 2389, Ambassador Ventu left her posting to campaign full time to be Earth's representative on the Federation Council. Her bid was ultimately unsuccessful, but she was further honored after its conclusion with an increase in her status as ambassador-at-large. She serves now as the roving ambassador to three dozen recently warp-capable worlds, as well as ambassador-on-call for the Cardassian Union, Talarian Republic, Breen Confederacy, and Tholian Assembly, should the the diplomatic missions to those major powers need assistance.
Ambassador Ventu ran for the office of Federation President in 2392. Her campaign was based upon peaceful negotiations with the Federation's neighbors and an increased focus on diplomacy and exploration for the Starfleet. She ended in the middle of the road for the popular vote, but following the election of Narala to the presidency, the new president appointed Ventu to her Cabinet as Secretary of the Exterior.
Awards & Accomplishments
As a field diplomat, she has been partially or solely responsible for about forty first contacts on behalf of the Federation, including with some advanced warp-capable species, including the Community, the Senmeten, the Taredge, and the Dennermé. She has been involved in Cardassian reconstruction in the decades following the Dominion War, and she has been allowed onto Breen -- though, if she has ever seen a Breen outside its encounter suit, she has been sworn to secrecy.

Family
Lily met her partner Hayden Reynolds during her time in Starfleet, when he served as a mobile researcher, and while it appeared that their relationship would not survive her high-risk placement on the Triumphant, they connected again aboard Starbase 118 and eventually held a commitment ceremony in 2382.
