Intrepid class USS Jemison

The USS Jemison is an Intrepid class Federation starship. The Jemison is an example of the 2392 Intrepid class refit.

In 2400, the Jemison was assigned to Amity Outpost to fortify the station's defenses when a large gathering of Hirogen ships were detected.

The Jemison is named for Mae Jemison, an American engineer, physician, and former NASA astronaut. She became the first Black woman to travel into space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1992, and she appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1993 as Lieutenant Palmer, becoming the first real-life astronaut to appear on Star Trek.
