Triborium

Triborium is an extremely rare metal used in the construction of light and durable battle armor. Because of the strategic value of triborium, the Valcarian Empire nationalizes triborium mining operations as it becomes aware of them. However, there are many small-scale triborium mining facilities the Empire does not know about, which process the precious ore for other clients - local governments, crime syndicates, and financially well-off individuals among them.
