Engineering Analysis
As the Tiger is the class prototype, and the only vessel of the class to be a refit as opposed to a new-build, some of the ships specifications are different from the other vessels of the Steamrunner-Wolverine class. Tiger has a smaller sickbay than her later sister ships. The vessel also has a single hull as opposed to a double hull, thinner ablative armour (12cm rather than 15cm), and is less manoevourable at sub-light speeds due to the two extra impulse exhaust ports on the later vessels.
Tiger also lacks a Type-X phaser bank found on her sister ships, which wasn't added due to the dangers of such a drastic rewiring. Installation would have jeopardized the safety of the vessel in a battle situation, and the potential damage more than countered the possible reasons for installation.
On initial shakedowns, it was found that the Tiger had a flaw which meant the deflector shields dropped as the vessel came out of warp. The bug has reoccured since the last minor refit in 2385.
