Mission Summary

Act I: Admiral Lost

With the USS Apollo-A making its first foray into unexplored Delta Quadrant territory, First Officer Lieutenant Commander Gogigobo Fairhug, whilst sitting in his Ready Room, attempts to contact Rear Admiral Renos over his comm badge, intending to inform the CO that he is about to visit Ship's Counsellor Ensign Malko to discuss some crew evaluations, however, the FO receives no reply from Renos. After a couple more attempts, Fairhug exits his Ready Room and asks Lieutenant E'riQ where the Admiral is, to which the Klingon replies the ne is in nir Ready Room. Finding the Captain's Ready Room locked and beginning to worry for Renos' safety, Fairhug uses the security override to enter the CRR, only to find the room empty. After visiting the Security Hub and questioning the computer on the Admiral's whereabouts, Fairhug is shocked to learn that Renos is no longer aboard the Apollo, despite the ship having no contact with any other ship or inhabited planet for approximately two weeks. Following a brief conversation with Chief of Security Lieutenant Khatri Darshana, Fairhug decides it's time to call an emergency meeting of the ship's senior staff.

Act II: The Investigation Begins

Having confirmed the mysterious disappearance of Rear Admiral Renos, Lt. Cmdr. Fairhug splits the ship's senior crew into teams with Chief Science Officer Ensign Davine D'fini leading a team that would attempt to establish just how the Admiral could have disappeared into thin air, Lt. Darshana taking a Security team to systematically search the ship, Lt. E'riQ performing an exact course reversal and Lt. Cmdr. Fairhug and Medical Officer Ensign Morin attempting to retrace the Admiral's steps in the hope of turning up some clues. Before long, each team begins to experience strange anomalies that seem to effect time and space, as well as causing a minor malfunction on a console in the main Science Lab which shocks Lieutenant JG Dante Termine, leaving him momentarily unconscious. A medical scan of Lt. JG Termine shows that there are Tetryon particles present in his body - particles which are normally associated with subspace. While the teams continue to work with this lead in mind, another crew member mysteriously disappears, this time the Transporter Chief Senior Chief Petty Officer Jack Wellbelove. When Lt. Darshana's team viewed the security footage of Wellbelove's disappearance, it became clear that is was linked with the anomalies being experienced throughout the ship.

Act III: Admiral Found

As the appearance of anomalies throughout the ship become more frequent, the crew attempt to find a way to predict them and perhaps hold one in place long enough to understand just what has happened to Renos and Wellbelove. However, yet another rift soon occurs causing an explosion in the Main Shuttlebay. Lt. Cmdr. Fairhug dispatches a team led by Lt. Darshana to evacuate the 'bay and bring the blazing fires under control, but soon after arriving, Lieurenant JG Daniel Cain begins to experience hallucinations in which he imagines Darshana, Malko and Morin to be some form of changelings working for the Dominion. After a confrontation which leads to injuries for both Darshana and Malko, Cain is eventually subdued and taken to Sickbay.

With the situation in the Shuttlebay under control, the Bridge is the next area to experience a rift. With the crew looking on, the anomaly begins to destabilise, eventually leaving a bizarre-looking alien exposed. The alien is quadrupedal, with Z-shaped front limbs, tentacles protruding from its sides, antennae, glowing green eyes and a beak-like mouth. It also communicates through something more akin to whale song than humanoid speech, presenting a challenge for the Unicersal Translator. However, after some good work from Lieutenant JG Conrad Adler and Ensign Darian Vol, Lt. Cmdr. Fairhug is eventually able to communicate with the alien and it soon becomes clear that the visitor is a member of a species that call themselves the 'Oophyd' and that they had essentially abducted Renos and Wellbelove in order to study them. Despite their misguided actions, the Oophyd are a benevolent species and after some fine diplomacy work by Lt. Cmdr. Fairhug, are convinced to return the Apollo's CO and Transporter Chief. It is then agreed that the Apollo crew and the Oophyd will exchange information before the two factions eventually part ways on friendly terms.

Admiral Renos, however, while physically unharmed, is returned to the Apollo in a comatose state which remains a mystery to both the Oophyd and the Apollo's medics.

Player Mission Quotes

She thought she head something over the din of the fire, threading her way through debris and smoke. Shuttles had slipped from their moorings and were haphazard on the deck. One of them was a smouldering wreck missing its entire nose section, another with fierce blue-green flames where the port nacelle should have been. That was a fire that was going to take a little more than a hand-held extinguisher, and she gave it a wide berth.

Then, just like that, the bubble disappeared and all that was left, standing in front of them, was a creature the likes of which Gogi had never seen. It was almost animal-like, quadrupedal and not entirely dissimilar to bovine or equine specimens from his home planet, or Earth, or anywhere that had similar creatures for that matter. Though there were major differences. The wispy, tentacle-like tendrils growing from its sides and chiefly, an unmistakable intelligence behind the almost glowing green eyes.
