Back in the UFOP, a new team of officers was being collected to head back into the "lions' den." The Laudeans possess an ability that could be a critical element of future defense for the Federation - allowing the Zalkonians to squander the opportunity, or the Romulans to take advantage of it could mean massive future losses. The Federation leaders are determined to "win" the Laudeans to their side. The new team settled in, and began taking up the diplomatic mantle.

On Stardate 238607.06, Starfleet Command ordered the USS Resolution, under the command of Commander Toni Turner, to return to Duronis II to meet with Governor Ahishma Chandra at the governor’s request. It appeared that the Laudean’s alliance with the Romulan Empire had not been as palatable as they had expected. The crew of the Resolution completed a planetary assessment at the end of their mission.
