Humanoid race reputed to be formidable warriors and regarded for over 9000 years to be the greatest strategic minds in the galaxy. This reputation is so strong that it has not been tested in recent memory. While many [[ma:Zakdorn|Zakdorn]] find employment as strategists or planners, the resounding majority serve in bureaucratic or minor political positions. Physically, the Zakdorn do not meet their reputation. They have pale blue/grey skin with many folds, and the majority of Zakdorns are obese and weak. This has not affected their reputation, however, and Zakdorn strategists are of great value to Starfleet's Tactical Command.

The Zakdorn are a race native to the Alpha or Beta Quadrant. Zakdorn are humanoids with pouches of thick, fibrous tissue on their cheeks. They have three pouches per cheek.
The reference manual Star Trek: Star Charts places Zakdorn at the extreme edge of the Federation in the outer sectors of the Beta Quadrant.
For nine millenia, they were regarded by potential foes as having the greatest innately strategic minds in the galaxy. Because of this perception, no one has tested the Zakdorn in combat, prompting Worf to dismissively note that "the reputation means nothing." As a people, the Zakdorn were generally replete with self-assuredness and overconfidence. They were members of the United Federation of Planets by the 2360s.
According to a line cut from DS9: "The Maquis, Part II", Benjamin Sisko and Calvin Hudson were persuaded by Curzon Dax to play a game of dom-jot against two Zakdorn on Pelios Station. The Zakdorn were triumphant and Curzon revealed he had placed a bet on their victory.
In 2365, the master strategist Sirna Kolrami visited the USS Enterprise-D to serve as observer and mediator during a war games exercise in the Braslota system. (TNG: "Peak Performance")
They were one of the many species that attended the biennial Trade Agreements Conference held on Betazed in 2366. (TNG: "Ménage à Troi")
They operated the Starfleet Surplus Depot Z15 in orbit of Qualor II. (TNG: "Unification I")
