Born to parents that considered himself and his older sister to be an inconvenience, Karl and Sofia were adopted by their paternal aunt and her husband at the ages of 8 and 10. From this point on Karl had a happy home life but struggled in education until he graduated high school as his reading and writing skills were subpar.
