Born and raised in Suraya Bay Charlena, named after her father, is used to the typical quiet serenity except for the one time a year where tourism spikes drastically for Lohlunat. Seeing Starfleet as one of the few places where he could develop as an individual free of the discrimination former Drones face and owing them his life, Kionn attended Starfleet Academy when the Sojourner returned to Earth. There he reclaimed or discovered more of himself, finding interests and hobbies like surfing and yoga and even some El-Aurian cultural touchstones like Tworin. The Veritas is Kionn's first deep space assignment after his graduation from the California Institute of Technology with a Doctorate in Applied Physics.
