He qualified an Engineer in the Marine Corps of Starfleet as enlisted upon the USS Thunder, under the command of Lt.Col Daniel Cardinal. Working his way up through the ranks, he gained and lost friends along the way. Gaining the rank of Marine Captain, and XO of the Thunder, West was given his own squadron of Fighters, 104th 'Black Ravens'. | |||
During the massacre of the G'Stantek in Federation Space, many of his squadron were lost in the boarding party, including a very close friend. Major West opted for retirement from the Fleet upon their arrival back at Deep Space Nine. He opted for a Civilian life with Citizenship in the Federation. | |||
