Before this could be undertaken, it was imperative to send covert agents to the surface of Byzatium and undermine their defences. An added complication was that the [[Byzatium|Byzallians]] themselves were not one race, but essentially three. The humanoid Dorfmen (who were the main focus of the Bardeezan-Pythron vengeance); the shadowy Omunics, famed and feared in the region for their warped genetic experiments; and the Gnaij - highly intelligent 'jelly-like' energy creatures. How the latter two would react to an assault upon the Dorfmen was not clear to any of the combatants, and so had to be investigated first. | Before this could be undertaken, it was imperative to send covert agents to the surface of Byzatium and undermine their defences. =='''The Insidious Plans of a Warped Mind'''==
With the initial ground-work having been laid by his covert agents, Vorndome instructed his Pythron lieutenants, K'Raz and LeNoir, to lead the "Army of Execution" into the land invasion of Byzatium. The overwhelming firepower of the Pythrons soon had the Dorfmen Byzallians in full retreat. It never once seemed that Vorndome would show any restraint as his own homeworld was being obliterated. The Warp Mind of the Master Engineer had only one objective, the capturing of the Omunics and their genetic technologies. Once he had both the organic and in-organic dark arts under his control, the whole galaxy would quake! What the short-term tactical considerations of his Pythron underlings were, he cared not.
