Eyas was assigned to the [[USS Independence-A]], initially as an Ensign in Security. His first task was to accompany Lieutenant [[Storos, Bron|Bron Storos]] to quell a riot on [[Deep Space 17]] and arrest two potential assassins seen in the crowd. Eyas did manage to apprehend one of the assassins but got stabbed in the leg with a poisoned dagger.
