Mac's Mother abandoned him with his father shortly after his birth. When Mac was 3 his father married Ruby. Mac had known Ruby his whole life as she was one of the ship's Medical Officers, and had delivered Mac aboard the USS Forester. His father, often busy with ship duties, always seemed to find a way to sideline a conversation about what happened to Mac's Rodulan mother. This lasted until after a fight broke out in his on ship classroom when two other kids decided to call him "Mommy's Reject". He left the scuffle untouched, the other boys however spent the night in Sickbay. Mac's father finally told him what happened. Mac's Mother had been planning to leave his father, but she had gotten pregnant.
