To be promoted to a flag officer rank, another flag officer of equal rank to the candidate’s current rank or above must nominate the candidate to the [[Executive Council]], and the EC will then vote on the promotion. The rank of [[Commodore]] is reserved for commanding officers who have completed a cumulative total of five years in command, upon which they are automatically nominated for promotion. | |||
