Wil Ukinix: Difference between revisions

Before starting with Starfleet, Wil had never been to Betazed. Unlike his half Betazoid father Anacem, Wil had some interest in Betazed and Betazoid Culture throughout his childhood years.  However, after his onset of his strong empathic abilities, Wil became less curious about his Betazoid heritage, and much more focused on being human.   

Being only one-quarter Betazoid, Wil looks human, and does not have black irises like his father or grandfather.  While he knows that his being one-quarter Betazoid is on his personnel file, he is happy for people to think he is human. When he first joined Statfleet, he did not bring up his Betazoid heritage, unless prompted.  However that changed during his Starfleet career and now does not shun his Betazoid side as much.

Whilst on shoreleave and visiting his family on Earth in 2397, [[Sky Blake]], whilst visiting Betazed, informed Wil of some gossip she had heard about the Ukinix name from [[Rivi Vataix]]<ref>[https://groups.google.com/d/msg/sb118-veritas/6nhBuBAgFnQ/WZg32IT8AQAJ "Betazoid royalty support group (Part 1)"]. Lieutenant Commander Sky Blake & Ensign Wil Ukinix, {{USS|Veritas}}</ref>.  Wil confronted Astrad about the gossip, causing him to discover that Astrad was originally named "Astradem", and was a noble of the [[Ninth House of Betazed]] - which Astrad had kept secret since his move to Earth<ref>[https://groups.google.com/d/msg/sb118-veritas/ZRzro8LFD5g/GAvg4O7-AQAJ "Royals"]. Several months later, Wil received a written message from his second cousin [[Keehani Ral]] asking for assistance so that her mother [[Vaxa Ral]] could reclaim the title of Matriarch of the Ninth House.  When [[Ghant Xerix]] returned to the Veritas, Ghant's cousin Choupette was killed in a bombing in France.  Wil decided to attend Choupette's funeral on Betazed to support his new crewmate.  Whilst there, he met Keehani for the first time{{SimRef|SIMTITLE=Foreign Land|SIMLINK=https://groups.google.com/g/sb118-veritas/c/KzuYTMN-FUQ/m/Ir_ZmeofAgAJ|CHARACTERS=Lt JG [[Wil Ukinix]]|SHIP=[[USS Veritas]]|STARDATE=239605.12|REFNAME=ForeignLand}}.  Keehani asked Wil for his and his family's assistance in her goal of restoring her grandmother's noble title, which Wil initially shunned as he did not trust Keehani.  Their relationship became strained as he did not trust her.

 

In 2398, Keehani discovered through Wil's family that Wil had be posted as First Officer and Starfleet attaché at [[Amity Outpost]], to be headed by Ambassador [[Rivi Vataix]].  Keehani approached Rivi for a position on Amity which Rivi agreed to{{SimRef|SIMTITLE=Sensible Sensing|SIMLINK=https://groups.google.com/g/sb118-amity/c/SHWf_7-kmIc/m/r6v4V2s0AQAJ|CHARACTERS=Keehani Ukinix|SHIP=Amity Outpost|STARDATE=239810.12}}, much to Wil's eventual surprise{{SimRef|SIMTITLE=Coffee Diplomacy|SIMLINK=https://groups.google.com/g/sb118-amity/c/HKA1VyHqYcs/m/lTKkgWxPBQAJ|CHARACTERS=Keehani Ukinix|SHIP=Amity Outpost|STARDATE=239810.04}}.  Since that time, they have become closer and have formed a sibling-like relationship.
