Born from the fires of the Dominion War, the Vesta Class starship was designed as the Federation’s ‘return to exploration’ multi-mission explorer. With state of the art technology, the Vesta class was an entirely new breed of starship. First placed in service in 2380, it serves as a testbed for various new and experimental technologies for Starfleet, helping to advance starship design in general. From weapons to propulsion, the Vesta class has been instrumental in bringing theory to reality all across the Federation and to its allies. | Born from the fires of the Dominion War, the Vesta Class starship was designed as the Federation’s ‘return to exploration’ multi-mission explorer. Unlike other Vesta Class vessels, the '''USS ''Excalibur''''' (Vesta Refit) was not automatically outfitted to the extent of others of her class. Instead, she was given minimums that allowed the outfitting and testing of various items belonging to a diverse number of systems throughout the ship as needed for research and development purposes. While this does dramatically reduce her overall firepower and capabilities compared with those of her sister ships, it allows for a flexibility which those vessels in turn do not enjoy. | Unlike other Vesta Class vessels, the '''USS ''Excalibur''''' (Vesta Refit) was not automatically outfitted to the extent of others of her class.
