The Hawlat are a Delta Quadrant species, known for being nomadic. In 2398, they passed through the [[Barossa Sector]].
==Species Information==

Their religious order contains at least three ranks. The species is humanoid but shares a mild superficial resemblance to earth bovines<ref name="AngAnth" />. They have broad flat noses and are largely covered in a short coarse fur<ref name="Pasture" />.
==Hawlat Angels==
The Hawlat follow a transient space born species whom they call "Angels<ref name="ProvP2" /> They consider the creatures to be their spiritual guides who lead them through space "from pasture to pasture<ref name="Pasture" /> They are very protective of the creatures and are deeply disturbed by any perceived irreverence or disruption towards their Angels.
The Angels are colloquially referred to by benamite miners (and some Starfleet personnel) as "Space Cows"<ref>[https://groups.google.com/g/sb118-amity/c/v1Mm5qD8Jng/m/gSrOIZmPHwAJ "Welcome to the Neighborhood"], [[Rivi Vataix]], [[Amity Outpost]]</ref>, due to their similarities to earth manatees - though little is currently known about their biology. In 2398, when the [[Amity Outpost]] was first constructed and mining operations began in the accretion disk, the Hawlat filed  protest over the disruption of the "Angels" movements.
