Sidney was born the eldest son to Charles and Catherine 'Kitty' Wilde, and took over the family business - Wilde Industries - from his father. He had never any ambition to join Starfleet, but instead worked tirelessly to ensure the family business prospered. Two of his brothers joined Starfleet instead, as well as both of his children.

He is still President and CEO of 'Wilde Industries', who specializes in manufacturing computer isolinear chips, processors and engine parts for Starfleet and other Federation worlds, as well as private businesses. While monetary wealth is not sought after in 24th century life, the Wilde's are considered incredibly rich. He is the eldest of several siblings, and the Wilde's are known to be descended from ancient English nobility. He's usually brash and ill-tempered, but mellowed over the years thanks to Idril Mar's influence, and the birth of his only grandson.
