Following a period of shore leave in the wake of the Hammerfall Incident aboard Deep Space Nine, the USS Thor was assigned to conduct a supply transport to New Bajor in the Gamma Quadrant. This was to be used as a shakedown exercise for the vessel following repairs.
The USS Thor traversed the wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant without incident and entered the orbit of New Bajor, a pastoral, agrarian settlement which was established following the end of the Dominion War. The original colony was destroyed by the Dominion during the conflict.
This officer was tasked by Fleet Captain [[Aron Kells]] to lead a team to the surface to meet with the colony leadership and obtain a status report. Commander Geoffrey Teller was to lead a team to deliver the agricultural supplies to the colony. Fleet Captain Kells would be remaining aboard the USS Thor to host any visiting colonists. Full away team assignments listed below:

The colony administration team proceeded to the surface via runabout (USS Tigris) and landed at the administration complex where we were met by Governor Tidak Beru and Agricultural Minister Velos Tan.
During this initial meeting the group was taken for a tour of the facility and Minister Velos raised concerns with Doctor Alieth regarding an on-going situation at the colony concerning the unusually low crop yields in the current harvest. Upon conclusion of a tour of the facility we retired to the confines of the Ambassadorial suites where Doctor Alieth was able to conduct a scan of the local environment which showed that communications in the area were being blocked by an unknown agent. It also became clear that the suites had been sealed from the outside to prevent our group from leaving.
Following a short period of confinement an escape via the local ventilation systems and returned to the USS Thor using the runabout. Following a period of regrouping this officer was sent to meet with local farmers at a settlement, known as Jorwhicaster, and was accompanied by Lieutenant Wes Greaves (SFMC) and Doctor Quen Deena.
It became apparent shortly after our arrival, however, that the local colonists, or a sizable proportion of them, believed that the disease that was ravaging their colony was a result of Federation/Starfleet presence. A hostile group of colonists began to gather and, after some discussion, our team retreated to the safety of the shuttle. It was at this point that Doctor Quen advised that we should investigate the mill upriver of the settlement.
Upon arrival at the mill, it was apparent that, even during harvest time, the mill was deserted bordering on inoperable with significant decay and fatigue noted on the agricultural machinery that was present. Proceeding with caution towards the central control suite of the mill it was discovered that significant electromagnetic reading was present. Upon further investigation this was found to be a viral synthesiser that appeared, to this officer, to be affecting the water table.
During the investigation it became apparent that the device was equipped with security features to prevent intrusion and intervention and the room began to fill with gas. This appeared to be an asphyxiant and potentially corrosive agent but the exits to the facility were deals and communications to the runabout were jammed. The team were able to escape via an underfloor water course and return to the USS Thor for medical treatment.
Upon return to the Thor, this officer became aware of the injuries sustained by Fleet Captain Kells and the incident that led to those injuries. Captain Kells issued orders that Governor Tidak was to be arrested, to be carried out by Commander Teller, and this officer was to assist Minister Velos Tan and administrator Alenis Nerys in ensuring that there was a smooth transition of power to a new administration. Doctor Alieth and Lieutenant Sirok were also in attendance.
Upon arrival, it became clear that the events set in motion by Governor Tidak had compromised the communication system of the administrative complex. Lieutenant Sirok, however, was able to affect a temporary repair using powerpacks from our equipment and evidence of Governor Tidak’s complicity in criminal activity was able to be spread across the colony.
Following this, a presentation was made to Assembly Spokesperson Uja Kos to show not only the situation that had plagued the colony but also convey the role Tidak Beru played in this. Evidence was presented by Minister Velos Tan, Doctor Alieth and Tidak Beru himself together with this officer and, after approximately three hours of deliberations, it was rules by the assembly that Velos Tan should be elevated to the position of Governor.
Tidak Beru was remanded into custody aboard the USS Thor while an antiviral agent was dispersed into the atmosphere following research conducted alongside these operations.

The nature of the blight on this world appears to have been introduced to the planet by a potentially criminal force. It had been suspected that this was perhaps a latent remnant of the destruction of the original New Bajor colony similarly to the Telpan Blight but this was not the case.
Despite the actions of Tidak Beru, I am happy to report that the colony on New Bajor appears to be, generally, thriving. While there has been no local activity by remnant Dominion forces it should be noted that the USS Thor was fired upon, and had cause to investigate operations, by the Melvar. Further Federation patrols are recommended to ensure our colonies are not further disrupted.
Similarly, additional supply runs should be scheduled for Federation colonies in the Gamma Quadrant to ensure enough resources are available for the upcoming seasons while they recover from the blight.<br>

'''Personal Notes'''<br>
A follow-up with Aron Kells is advised to assess his psychological wellbeing in light of his recent injuries.
Despite the complications arising during this mission, it has been gratifying to see the crew moving forwards following the events of the Hammerfall Incident. While light duties had been recommended for Wes Greaves (SFMC) it must be said he conducted himself impeccably under pressure during the events at the Jorwhicaster Gristmill.
Finally, as a personal note and subsequent to the mission, it has been highly gratifying to see Doctor Alieth assigned as Chief Medical Officer for the USS Thor. Her composure and articulation when dealing with the New Bajor administration is testament to her abilities as a communicator and I look forward to continuing to work with her in her new role.
