|''Age (at death)'': {{age|2320|7|13|2396|5|1}}<br><br>Maxwell's father suffered from the advanced stages of [[ma:Irumodic_Syndrome|Irumodic Syndrome]] in the last years of his life.  Due to his increasingly violent and delusional behavior, he was moved from the family homeworld of Alpha III to a medical center on Earth in 2387, where his children could better care for him.  His frail, temperamental nature contrasted sharply with the images of a strong, quiet, ever-smiling giant of a man that his family remembered. In early 2396, Samuel's condition deteriorated and his children took him home to Alpha III to live out the last few weeks of his life.

|''Age'': {{age|2349|3|10}}<br><br>Where Maxwell's personality came directly from his mother, his sister drew hers directly from their father.  Strong, dependable, family-oriented, Kirsten is the backbone of the Traenor family.  The two siblings have a strong relationship, though recent strains have left her exasperated with Maxwell's career choices and lack of devotion to family as of late. The late-stage sickness and care of her father, with the attendant familial strains, caused the end of her marriage. Kirsten maintains the family homestead and is currently caring for Maxwell's beagle.

|''Age'': {{age|2376|1|12}}<br><br>Maxwell shares a close relationship with his niece, which continued only slightly tempered throughout her adolescence.  Fearless, outgoing, and energetic, she is everything that Maxwell is not; though they do share an irreverent sense of humor that exasperates her mother.  Showing a burgeoning interest in a Starfleet career, Eden entered Starfleet Academy and is on her way towards graduation.

|''Age'': {{age|2392|9|4}}<br><br>Barque, a Terran beagle, was a gift to Maxwell from his niece Eden. Though Maxwell as a rule abhors the concept of pet ownership, the fact that Barque was a gift from his beloved niece and Barque's sweet, gregarious nature has warmed him to the exception.  Generally well-trained and well-behaved, Barque still manages to be a handful sometimes. After Maxwell's return to duty in 2397 after his unauthorized absence, Barque remained with Maxwell's sister at the family homestead on Alpha III.

When asked to describe himself, Maxwell Traenor would dryly remark that he is a wholly unremarkable person, and happy to be considered so. He is a genial, easygoing person, quick to laugh and hard to anger. As a young adult, he had no particular ambitions, save a reasonable interest in stellar cartography. He was able to secure a position, first as a civilian contractor, then as an enlisted crewperson, in the Astrometrics department of a large outpost, Starbase 20. He plodded through the ranks, and across a couple large stations, until he found himself stuck in career limbo at Specialist, 3rd class, working on mundane charting tasks. He started to yearn for more, and managed to secure the recommendation of a bemused and sympathetic former commanding officer in order to enlist at Starfleet Academy.
