During the [[Battle for Bajor]], many extra aides were sent to Bajor from Earth. Caitríona was part of this, but it was truly awful. The violence was intense and it will stick with her for a long time. Her and Bikar were no more, not to mention the psychological and physical damage she suffered. Even though the Battle was a success, Caitríona returned home defeated.
In 2388, the year Bajor joined the Federation, Caitríona accompanied Bikar to Bajor to see his home and also meet those he cared for, however, an old Cardassian bomb which was hidden during the Occupation was trigged accidentally with Bikar and Cayne - among many other civilians and military being in close proximity. The explosion was devastating, and even though she survived she suffered from psychological and physical damage.


She needed to do more with her life, being a nurse wasn't enough. She needed purpose and duty. She knew if she was a Starfleet Officer during the Bajoran battles, she could have done more. She could have saved more. Her brother was the one who convinced her to eventually apply to Starfleet Academy, and she got in.
