| Like most species that have evolved on water planets they evolved from a semi-amphibian fish that lived in the shallow waters of their world.

| The Korri are an Independent member of the Freeworlds Council. While little is known about their internal political situation all important merchants are a member of the KMA (Korri Merchant Association). Speculation based on observations and third party information would seem to indicate that the KMA is more than just a guild of merchants and that it actually is an important political force on their world.
| | |
| | | |
| ==Description== | | ==Description== |
| The Korri evolved from amphibians on their oceanic world of Beta Korrilae II, located in the Freeworlds Region of the Par'tha Expanse. Their moist skin is a mottled blue-grey color, though light-to-dark variations exist. Their webbed hands have only three fingers plus a thumb, and a stubby vestigial tail protrudes from the small of the back. They have a double layered membrane over their ear canals and no nose, instead they have catfish like whiskers that scent the air for them.
| | |
| | |
| They tend to wear drab, monochromatic one-piece body suits. These suits are designed to keep their skin moist for long periods of time, otherwise they need to use certain creams and ointments to prevent their skin from drying out and cracking.
| |
| | | |
| ==Physiology== | | ==Physiology== |
| While their auditory and olfactory senses are underdeveloped, they have excellent vision and can even see to a limited degree in wavelengths not normally visible to most humanoids. Their "ears" are nothing more than a double-layered membrane under their skin that vibrates over their auditory canals. Korri have no "noses." Instead, catfish-like whiskers pick up airborne chemicals, which their brains interpret as "smells."
| | |
| | |
| ===Extra Sense===
| |
| One advantage the Korri do posses is a limited psionic ability. Although this is primarily used as an extra sense to gain awareness of their surroundings in regards to the individuals around them, most Korri have developed their abilities enough to give them an edge in their business dealings. While the Korri have declined to submit to examination by any outside sources a trade expedition of 4 vessels spent over 3 years inside the Federation. During this time observation and discreet scans by various different scientists have provided a glimmer of just how this might work. It is believed that their ability dampens extreme emotion in most individuals near them. The range differs from Korri to Korri and their seems to be a multiplier effect when a group of Korri are close together. Observation would seem to indicate that this also makes most individuals more prone to "making the deal".
| |
| | | |
| ==Psychology== | | ==Psychology== |
| As a whole the Korri seem to be pacifists, prone to avoiding confrontations when possible. They also seem to be very patient, willing to spend as much time as is needed to "Make the Deal." To others they maintain a discreet, calm demeanor but observation seems to indicate that this is not just a business face that they put on for the customers.
| | |
| | | |
| ==Religion== | | ==Religion== |
| They believe that as a reward for being a successful business person, for being "Able to Make the Deal" they will be rewarded with entry into the Celestial Market. The better the deals the better their placement within the market. If they fail to meet the basic requirements then they are doomed to wander the wasteland, a desolate barren expanse that surrounds the market on all sides.
| | |
|
| |
|
| ==Mythology== | | ==Mythology== |
| All of their myths seem to deal with the concept of "Making the Deal' no matter how. They revolve around various different individuals who as a result of certain questionable activities were able to negotiate deals significant enough to earn them not only entry into the market but prestigious spots near the important central market square.
| | |
|
| |
|
| ==Society== | | ==Society== |
| Based on observation the main driving goal in all of their lives is "Making the Deal." The better the deal, the more prestige they garner from other Korri. Everything is for sale or so they will tell you. While this seems to make them a species of hucksters and bargain dealers it is more a matter of them establishing their credibility among themselves and there position with in their society. It also seems to have an important impact on their spiritual beliefs as well.
| |
|
| |
|
| ===Those with out the gift===
| |
| There is a small minority of their population, approximately 7% to 9% who do no have any psionic ability. They are treated badly, as second class citizens, insulted and forced to do the most menial and demeaning jobs available.
| |
|
| |
|
| ==Culture== | | ==Culture== |
| Very little is know about this aspect of their society at this time however since they do not seem to seek out art of any kind to purchase and will sell anything which includes all kinds of art from other species it is believed that they either do not produce any themselves or produce such a poor quality product that even they do not think it is fit for sale which when you consider some of the junk they buy and sell is saying a lot.
| | |
|
| |
|
| ==Customs== | | ==Customs== |
| The most obvious and noticeable one is the requirement for them to place one hand out in front of them flat, with the palm up if they are the seller, palm down if they are the buyer. This is done anytime a deal has been completed. It will be accompanied with the following saying, "Šťastie je moje" which means fortune is mine if they are the seller and "Príležitosť ma uprednostňuje" which means opportunity favors me if they are the seller.

|
| ==Technology== | | ==Technology== |
| Due to their limited warp capability (maximum of warp 3) which only the newer space ships have installed, many of the older ships are still only capable of less rapid transit. This has had an impact on their ship designs with most of their space craft being larger in size than would be expected. This is due to the fact that even the closest inhabited planet is just over a week away for most of their ships.
| |
|
| |
|
| As a result all of their ships tend to be designed with the need for survival over very long journeys and no consideration for appearances with random placed cargo bays, storage spaces, hydroponics chambers or specialized food storage capabilities and more in the way of personal living space as well as some additions slapped on where ever the mood suits their captain when they can afford to make modifications or upgrades.
| |
|
| |
| Most vessels have little to no offensive or defensive capabilities unless their captain has managed somehow to trade for some.
| |
|
| |
|
| ==Economy== | | ==Economy== |
| While Ferengi could be considered the "corrupt businessmen" of the Alpha Quadrant, the Korri would be better described as unscrupulous "street vendors," "back alley salesmen" or "circus sideshow callers" who know the value of what they're selling, but tell you it is ten times more.
| |
|
| |
|
| They operate a larger than expected fleet of large, merchant ships that many species tend to describe as "flying bazaars" (filled mostly with junk). From the limited data available it seems that many of these vessels are technically owned by either the government or the alliance of companies that designed and built them. The ships captains either working for them or working hard in order to eventually pay off the purchase price and then be able to claim ownership.
| |
|
| |
|
| ==Military== | | ==Military== |
| They have no organized military forces and their space craft have little to no offensive or defensive capabilities except for the few ship’s whose captains have managed to trade for some kind of offensive or defensive weapons system.
