While Raj was in command of the {{USS|Atlantis}}, the love of his life, Emerson Ravenscroft, was killed in action, and he remains haunted by the loss. He is introverted and does not have many friends, but the ones that are, he holds close and dear to his heart and is fiercely loyal and protective of them. He also loves cats.
