As they found the Thomas Edison, they too were trapped in an interphase rift. Ceciri saw herself dead, for example, and is wondering just how bad the rifts got further out. While they were able to come up with a defense against the rifts, they were ultimately unable to save the Thomas Edison before it was destroyed by a rift forming within the rift.
