Avalon Sector: Difference between revisions

:The only known major power in the region, the Saurian Empire is a militant, caste based society that effectively dominates the woefully uncharted 'eastern' side of the Avalon Sector. While diplomatic relations were established after the destruction of Genura in 2385, the Diplomatic Mission was closed by 2387. In the 5 years since, the Saurian Empire has annexed several parts of the Avalon Sector, increasing their territory by 1/3. The Decline of the Romulan Empire and the lack of Starfleet resources in the region were the impetus for this expansion. The Empire is founded upon a religious hierarchy that dominates all parts of Saurian civilization. A related species, the Genurans (their evolutionary relationship with the Saurians is unclear) make up 2% of the population but contributed immeasurably to Saurian scientific advancement. While proficient in battle, the Saurians might have highly advanced technology since the Genurans were capable of stellar engineering on a massive scale. it is unknown, however, if these advances were shared with the Saurians, or somehow kept secret. The Empire is controlled by an Emperor and has recently undergone a shift in political power, with many fleeting democratic reforms being revoked.
