+Also, in regards to counselors and which part of the academy they graduate from, based on [http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Deanna_Troi Counselor Troi's history], counselors graduate from the larger sciences division of the academy rather than the Starfleet Medical Academy that for instance Julian Bashir graduated from and major in psychology, which would be a department within the larger sciences division as seen with most universities today. The fact that counselors would then wear teal upon graduation shouldn't be an issue just as paramedics who also wear teal would not have gone to Starfleet Medical Academy either.
+(Of course in reality or rather canon that is, both sciences and medical divisions should be wearing the same color as there is really no separate medical division in canon. Bones wore the same sciences insignia as Spock in the original series and Crusher and Troi wore the same blue color in TNG just as Jadzia Dax wore the same teal color as Bashir.
