+Marcus Raiden was born in Tycho city. His father was a cultural anthropologist and his mother a painter. He spent most of his early years with his mother at home as his father was often away.
+When Marcus was 6 his parents were murdered near a Buddhist monastery. The monks there brought him up and taught him their ways. He learned how to feel the world around him, about life and controlling his anger. He completed his training at 18, then joined the order of protectors who are trained and sworn to protect the monks and monasteries from threats.
+After studying under a master for three years he was deemed ready to be a fully-fledged protector. Later he became a master himself, teaching the younger ones the way till he was 32. That year the temple he was sworn to protect was attacked and most of the monks killed while he was off scouting.
+For the next three years Marcus hunted for the people that had attacked the monastery. In doing this he forgot a few teachings and let his anger return. Finally he found himself and decided to join Starfleet marines as that’s where he felt he could do the best.
+After his last mission to a classified location and mission he lost a very close friend and injured himself. He was given two choices a desk job at SFM HQ or a transfer to Operations on Starbase 118. After weighing up his options he decided to transfer.
