((First Officer's office))

Eerie was still getting use to having his own office. Not that he minded the Security/Tactical office. But at least that was shared arrangement, and he didn’t have to spend a lot of time there. Now he had to keep semi-regular hours that he would be there. It still seemed odd to odd to be away from the security office::
He went over and looked at the small badge that was in a frame on the bulkhead. It read “Ravensville Police Department”::
The door buzzed and his appointment chimed in.::

Eerie: Enter.::Formally and turning to the door.::

The door slide open and an Andorian woman marine came in the office. Eerie was of course standing. He had the chair removed from behind the desk and desk raised to make it easier to work on. He had the rest of the chairs still in the office for the others if need be.::
Talisa had been nervous when she had been invited to visit the Executive Officer. Despite all the bravado that any self respecting marine officer tried to emit, none of them wanted to be standing in front of the ship’s XO, this was epically true for a second lieutenant who had just graduated from the academy. For Talisa there was another reason that was saw concerned about being summoned to the XO’s office.::
Talisa steeled her nervous and walked into the office, she stopped in front of the Commander’s desk and snapped out a salute.::

Eriss: Second Lieutenant Talisa Zh’ Eriss reporting as ordered sir.

She fought to keep the nervousness out of her voice::
The other reason that Talisa was concerned about coming to the XO’s office was that she had meet the Brikar Commander before. At the time Commander Eerie was suffering from an intense amount of pain and aggression, he had been beamed aboard the Victory and been confronted by two marines, one of them who was a certain andorian second lieutenant how proceeded to shoot him in the chest. It was for this reason that Talisa would much rather had prefered to meet on the bridge, or in the lounge, or anywhere with witnesses… In fact, Sickbay seemed like a good location, Talisa might ever survive if they meet there.::

Eerie: Lieutenant, at ease.::Formally, but Eerie liked Andorians, and thought of Lt. Chen whom he had served with the Vigilant. The intelligent officer had been a major asset to the service. Eerie expected no less from this officer.::

Talisa relaxed her stance to the at ease position and clasped her hands behind her back.::

Eriss: o0 It doesn’t look like he’s about to kill me, perhaps he will settle for putting on waste recycling for the next few years.0o

Eerie: How was the taste of your first mission, feel free to speak freely, Lieutenant.::Eerie wanted a unvarnished opinion. There was always a time a place for ‘uncolored’ opinion, and while the officer was brand new, Eerie wanted a sense of this officer.::

Talisa was a little surprised by the request to speak freely. She thought for a moment about the question and how best to answer it.::

Eriss: It was not what I had expected sir.

Eerie: First missions never are.

Eriss: I did not expect it to be so... ::Her antenna flattened for a moment and then returned to normal::... eventful. I I came aboard during a crisis, lost my orders, manned the tactical station and….. I shot you in the chest. ::She winced thinking back to it.::

Eerie: I will let you in on a little secret Lieutenant. ::It wasn’t really a secret, anyone that really wanted to could go back and read about his first as ensign.::

Eerie: My species normally has a hibernation period of two to three weeks every 5 to 7 years. So I quickly fell asleep during the first part of my first mission. There wasn’t anything I could do about it. I finally awoke, and after checking in with sickbay and eating almost everything got back to duty.::It was still formal, but he took a bit of the edge of of the statement.::

Eriss: ::Talisa smiled:: it seems like you had a very unexpected experience on your first time out too.

Eerie:Yes. ::He could still almost remember the pain.:: Always expect the unexpected.

Eriss: Yes sir, Semper fi, Sir.

‘Semper Fi’ was not the motto of one of the old Earth Marine Corps. Talisa couldn’t remember which one, but thought that it might be the French. In any case she had heard the motto while at the academy and had started using it liberally::

Eerie: Of course.

Eerie was pleased to see the enthusiasm of the new marine officer.::

Eriss: Sir may I ask about the relationship between the Victories Marine contingent and the Security team? During the academy I was given many examples of where Marines and formerly MACOs would clash with a Star Ships Security force. I haven’t seen any evidence of that so far and Commander Sharpe was very welcoming. But I want to make sure I have the relationship clear in my head.

Eerie hadn’t had the warmest relationships with Marines starting out his career. He found their bravado a bit over the top, but serving with different Marine officers, he had actually gotten use to them, and during his time as Security chief, he was a big believer in working with them, hand in hand.::

Eerie: Of course. Good relations with the Security department is key.

Eriss: Sir, I’ve only had a chance to meet the Marines on Victory briefly. I did work with Sergeant Gwinnett during the mission and she proved very helpful.

Talisa had since had a chance to look at Sergeant Gwinnett’s very colourful service history. It seems that the Sergeant had a few issues and a troubled past, but Talisa could not fault her for what she had done so far.::
Eerie thought for a moment. He had served with her on and off for almost two years. He decided to hit the nail square on the head.::

Eerie : Gwinnett is an excellent officer on duty, she is a disaster off duty. Be mindful of that, and keep her very busy.::

Talisa smiled at the XO’s candour.::

Eriss: Than perhaps she should be given an increase in responsibilities? I’m sure Sergeant Major Kildare could suggest some additional duties. It might also help her if she’s looking to get her Staff Sergeant stripe in the near future.

Eerie: She is used to hard work, it is actually a blessing for her in the long run, she might even agree with that. Grudging, of course.

Eerie didn’t particularly like making the recommendation, but Gwinnett could be a major distraction if not handled properly.::

Eriss: Yes Sir, I will have a word with Sergeant Major Kildare. Is there anything else sir?

Eerie didn’t want to leave a issue unsettled so he decided to bring it up, and bury it once and for all. If possible::

Eerie: Your actions in the transporter room were correct, Lieutenant. I would of done the same in your situation. ::It was dry and formal.::

Talisa fidgeted in her seat.::

Eriss: Sir… ::she shuffled in her seat again:: Yes, Sir. But I am sorry. It’s not how I wanted to meet the ships XO and certainly not the first impression that I wanted to give.

Eerie: It is alright. You have permission to do so again. ::Letting a pause for effect.::Given the same situation.::It was dry but with a very small amount of humor tacked on the end.::

Eriss: ::She let out a genuine giggle of amusement. ::it made her sound like a school child but she couldn't help it.:: I hope it doesn't come to that sir.

Eerie: That will be all Lieutenant. Welcome aboard.

Eerie put his ‘hand’ forward. It was basically two fingers and an sort of a thumb.::

Eriss: Thank you sir. ::she said smiling and shaking his offered hand.::
