((CTO quarters, USS Triumphant))

::For the past fourteen years, she'd tried not to think of Andron-Kel. It had cost her her beloved brother, Lorschal. Most of it was a blur anyway. She remembered sitting in the Cardassian holding cell awaiting her execution with Jes and Lorschal. Then there was a whirl of activity as B'laya, Hal and Bejain fought their way into the cell. She recalled the momentary, biting pain as the Cardassian disruptor struck her on her side. Then it all became a blur as the survivors spent two weeks travelling to the mountains a hundred kilometres away, taking turns to carry her.

::Suddenly, from nowhere appeared a memory she hadn't known she had. She ran a hand across a scar on the left side of her torso.::

((Flashback, Bajor during the occupation))

::It had been nighttime in the Latana wastes. Only Bajor's tertiary moon, Entor was in the sky, and it was consequently dark. She'd remembered that. Bejain had been carrying her, though she'd been woosy all night. Her wound had become infected, and she'd felt every jar.

::Suddenly, they weren't moving any more. She opened her eyes, and saw Bejain over her, concern in his dark eyes.

Bejain: How're you doing?

::She grimaced::

Nys: Not too good actually

::Bejain lifted her shirt and inspected the wound, his mouth set. He reached for his water container, and poured a little across it. It felt deliciously cool and soothing, but she held her hand up

Nys: Stop. You need that. There's no water until Juret, two days away.

Bejain: Three actually. I can spare it. Besides... ::He grinned at her with his characteristic crooked grin.:: We look out for each other, you and I.

::Weakly, she had smiled back at him.

Nys: We do, don't we?
