SIM:Lael Rosek - Shocking News Part II (Gorkon)
"Shocking News, Part I"
|Lieutenant Lael Rosek
USS Gorkon NCC 82293
"I Owe You An Apology"
OOC: Takes place after Lael’s “Developments”
OOC2: Ayiana - Present Time
((Sevo’s Quarters, USS Gorkon))
Rosek: ::sighs:: Yes. Just when I’m starting to move past Temlai, I get hit with the other ‘verse. ::grimaces:: Jansen was the only thing that kept me holding on over there. I thought so many times about giving up. I--It’s hard readjusting without him.
:: Ayiana remembered how Rosek and Orrey had become close, in no small part to how her alternate self’s life unfolded in their universe. ::
Sevo: How are you guys doing now that he’s back?
Rosek: ::grins wryly:: Breaking a man’s nose utterly doesn’t exactly scream “Hey, let’s get back together”.
Rosek: ::blushes:: I thought he was breaking up with me, so I broke his nose. Broke my own hand in the process.
:: Ayiana had to stifle a laugh. It was serious news, but so ridiculous, too! ::
Sevo: Ahaha! Oh, I bet that was a shock to him!
Rosek: ::smiles sheepishly:: To put it mildly, yes.
Sevo: Did you guys make up?
Rosek: ::shakes her head:: Called off the engagement. I’ve talked to him a couple times since he got back, but I’ve mostly been avoiding him.
Sevo: Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. Why did you call it off, if I may ask?
Rosek: ::sighs:: It’s complicated. Like I said, I thought he was breaking up with me. I guess my logic was to do it before he had the chance. Happened the same morning I broke his nose.
Sevo: Well, it’s none of my business, anyway. I do hope you reconsider, though.
Rosek: ::murmurs:: Even if I did, I really hurt him. I don’t know if he’ll welcome me back so easily...if at all. Jansen is one of those types who takes forever to warm up to a person. ::grimaces:: It took forever for the man to kiss me, for God’s sake. Even after I broke up with Janel. And if it wasn’t for that damned mistletoe...
Sevo: Mistletoe? What’s that?
Rosek: ::blinks and laughs:: It’s a green plant with berries that you hang from the ceiling and if two people get caught under it, it’s tradition that they kiss.
:: Ayiana had to again stifle a laugh. The whole thing sounded ridiculous! ::
Sevo: Oh. That’s...thats...um…
Rosek: ::smiles:: I know. Silly.
:: Well, Ayiana didn’t want to say it out loud. Some Human traditions were funny. ::
Sevo: I’d run away if I was caught under one.
Rosek: ::blushes:: I almost did. I wasn’t ready for that yet. But he kind of kissed me before I could really react.
Sevo: But you liked it…
Rosek: ::grins:: Absolutely. Actually, I think that was the night I realized that I loved him. We’d been chasing each other in circles for a few months before that. Made me utterly crazy.
Sevo: Good for you.
Rosek: ::sighs:: Yes. What I wouldn’t do to have that back. Things were rough before, but that pregnancy scare sent things downhill even faster.
Sevo: P-pregnancy? I-I didn't know you were…
Rosek: ::shakes her head:: I wasn’t...but I thought I was. ::grimaces:: It devastated us both, I think. ::sighs:: He was so happy when I told him. His reaction when Chythar told us it was a false alarm...it was gut-wrenching.
Sevo: I don’t doubt it. I’m sorry.
Rosek: ::sighs:: It is what it is. ::pauses:: So...how’re things going on your end?
Sevo: Same old. Trying to catch up with the scientific community after our...extended diversion.
Rosek: ::nods:: I’m doing some research on that end myself. I finally finished my dissertation and Chythar sent it to Captain Blueheart to look over. I might have my surgery as soon as the middle of next month and be recovered enough to go back to regular duties three months after that.
Sevo: For your spine? You’re getting it fixed?
Rosek: ::nods:: But it’s really risky. There’s three possible outcomes. One...it just doesn’t work. Nothing happens. Stem cells can be finicky. Two...it works perfectly and everything is lollipops and rainbows. Three...the cells mutate, maybe even to the degree that I need treatment for it. I might possibly lose my ability for independent movement altogether.
Sevo: You sure it’s worth the risk?
Rosek: ::sighs:: Eventually, I’m not going to be able to maintain the nanites. I’ll end up in a hoverchair either way. At least this way, I’m trying something.
Sevo: Well, good luck then.
:: Lael nodded and stood. ::
Rosek: I’ll let you finish unpacking. See you around?
Sevo: Yea. And...thanks for the news of Janel. I didn’t know him like you did but, still.
Rosek: ::nods:: Good night, Ayiana.
:: She then exited the Trill woman’s quarters, headed for her own.::
