Personal History

Tobius was born on star date 235302.26 in St. Louis, North America on Earth. His parents, having never married, raised Tobius together for almost two years. Eventually they would part, and Chastity would take Tobius and leave Earth bound for Qo'nos, and the Klingon who would become his stepfather, Kraelin. Having been an "acquaintance" of Kraelin's long before she met Tobius's father, Chastity found solace with him once again on the Klingon home world. When Tobius was ten years old, on stardate 236308.25, a Klingon female, jealous of Chastity's relationship with Kraelin, murdered her.

After her death, Kraelin, who has since never taken another mate, took it upon himself to raise Tobius the best he could. He taught Tobius about Klingon history and heritage. Taught him to fight, through rigorous physical training, and taught him to respect honor and loyalty.

Tobius never had it easy throughout his childhood. The Klingon children that he grew up with would never accept him into their society, and took it upon themselves to regularly beat him. He had no true friends while growing up on Qo'nos, and the resulting lack of socialization skills would plague him throughout his adult days. When he was twenty-one, he left the Klingon home world to join Starfleet Academy, since it was becoming increasingly clear that he would never be accepted in the Klingon military. He was eventually accepted into the Academy two years later.

Upon reaching the academy, Tobius excelled at all physical aspects of his training, but found himself very below average when dealing with traditional "text book" classes. The schooling he had received on Qo'nos had just not properly prepared him for the scholastic demands of the academy. Contemplating dropping out many times the first semester of his sophomore year, he finally found the help he needed to catch up with, and manage to keep pace with, his classes.

Notes

PERSONALITY: Tobius is a very isolated person. He doesn't enjoy talking about the feelings of himself or of other people. At first glance he is rude and possibly a little arrogant, and could easily offend most if taken by his first impression. When dealing with people he often holds grudges and is quick to judge others by their actions. He is much more comfortable alone in his quarters, staring out at the passing stars, than he is in a gathering or populated space. His Klingon upbringing is constantly at conflict with his inbred, Terran ideals and feelings, and the two opposing views are constantly warring with each other. Tobius is very loyal, and if befriended, is some one who could be counted on unconditionally. It is the actual befriending part that is often most difficult when dealing with him.
