Jack practiced Medicine for a number of years in his family's practice with his Grandfather, Father and Elder brother. He was always an adventurer at heart spending most of his free time outdoors hunting and fishing. He decided that he wanted to explore life more and thought Starfleet would be a wonderful way to do something useful but get away. His family was actually supportive of the idea and he joined, the first of his family. At the Academy he tended to keep to himself but is very friendly to everyone, unless they got on his bad side. Although very friendly it is not very hard to anger or rile him up if he felt you were being disrespectful or rude. Also once on his bad side it takes a while to get back onto his good. He has a nearly photographic memory, is extremely observant and is actually an extremely good marksman.
