Beliefs

The same ideals as his family. He was raised with the thought and grounded on the fact that God is the universe, there are things that are beyond our understanding and shouldn't be understood, not meant to be labeled. Equality is something within all species between sentient species. Honor, live by the sword and die by it. The pure ideals Jacen live by like many of his family sometimes would be a great weakness. The pure ideals that they are something beyond the current conception of law and fall back onto natural justice would even justify vendetta. These ideals would conflict with Jacen's duties as a Starfleet officer which of the Federation's laws, rules, and regulation would clash against the pure ideals of Jacen's House, which is to live by the sword, vendetta by right, and natural justice, justice that doesn't nessessarily mean by the law.

Honorable. Incredibly loyal to a fault. To both his family, and to what his duties are to Starfleet. Conflicted ideals. Perhaps Hero complex. Contradictions with personal beliefs and his sworn duties.

Personality and Personal History

If someone were to describe him I believe they would call him loyal. He always stay true to whatever path he takes and is willing to go through all the hardships that lay before him. He always had chosen that hard road of life because half the time it is not the choosing of the path but the acceptance of it. He wanted to make a difference, but was always left out. He tries hard and when he finally achieve one goal he has a million more to do. So he lives on from day to day, living the way he wants to be.

He comes from a long line of military men and women all the way back to ancient times of swordsman throughout the world from knights of England to the Samurai of Japan, carrying the family sword to prove his true loyalty is to his family and their code of honor.

He hides his problems under a thick coat of pride, achievement, and self righteousness. Everything he does, from the moment he wakes up he lives for the perfection. That is the discipline taught unto him as with all members of his family. Clear cut devotion and loyalty to the House, and the will and determination in any purpose.

Like all Fanels, Jacen baptized in the fires of combat. He was raised to have the ability to fight. Like his entire family, he is a Knight, servant of the people, looking out for the best interest of the House and balance of power.

Jacen is sometimes too determined. He can be ill-tempered when he hears something he doesn't like. Half the time, he tries to impose his belief on others and then rushes off to try to prove something. In this regard, he had imposed a self exile from his family. He wanted to be away from the traditions of his House. In his entire life, he has only been to his homeworld twice so far. In his noble personality, he fails to see some common sense or seeks to understand others if they do something that violates his own principles. Another one of his problems would be at times, lack of response to authority like officers that outrank him. He would repeatedly speak frankly to them as equals. As an officer, he has a natural respect that comes with the position, but most of the time, he feels the need to let others, especially those higher positions from him to earn his actual respect. Competent is one thing compared to respectability. He will obey a direct order from above, but he doesn't have to like who gives the order. Though he also has a dislike for disloyalty even if it for the "right" reasons. He can agree to some smuggling operations, but take them down if they are doing it to help criminals or transporting something deadly. There are many things, Jacen would consider a problem, though some things he would allow as a necessary evil on the universe. He like most his House believes that without evil in the universe, how can good be defined?

His immediate family comprises of his father, Zeon and his mother, Leronica. He also has a number of siblings including 3 brothers, Casval, a twin Dante, and younger brother, David. Also 2 sisters, Artesia and a younger one, Akira. He rarely sees any of them except for social events that calls him an his family back to the homeworld. It is Fanel policy to encourage the young when the time comes, for them to reach out into space, explore, enrich and bring back those enrichment to add to their collective. This also leads to many of the Fanels advances in technology.

Jacen had an arranged marriage to a childhood friend that had been long held off. It was easier for him to accept it because he was marrying someone he knows. The love would grow after the marriage even more. Many of Jacen's family wed through arrange marriages, most of them good matches with pairs accepting one another well without any problems later. One can challenge the arrange marriage if they have someone else they are willing for fight for, but since Jacen never had an outside love to develop that he would refuse his arrange marriage, nothing ever happened. Jacen accepted the marriage and loves his wife, Himeyu.

Jacen fancies weapons and inventions of more practical devices to be used while he is in service. Though this is no surprise when one sees how his noble warrior family origin can be the cause of that. Some would say his personality is the kind that would only be described as simply a romantic.

In weapons, he's developed quite a few in his career. When he served aboard the USS Victory, he had tried to invent his own rendition of a Lightsaber with some success. The weapon he designed was based on Phaser and Force Field technology. He had intended to use it as a stunning tool. The forcefield created in a tube like shape extends into a baton length and the field it generates is powerful enough when it strikes an organic mass, it shocks it, stuns it. The setting can be fine tune to whatever you are dealing with and length can be changed. The other setting was intended to be a cutting tool. The force field keeps the charged phaser beam inside and as the charge increases, it burns hot and anything it touches will burn. Jacen had tested this and it can burn right through the standard hull type of Federation ships very well. In the end, Jacen had dubbed this invention of his, the Phase Baton, but after his transfer from the Victory, it was never seen again.

The next invention he invented is later more practically sound for him since he said it "Makes sense". He called it a Force Lance. The Force Lance generally looks like a harmless metal rod approximately 1/3 of a meter in length which fires energy shots, but can extended to almost 2 meters and be used as melee weapon. The interesting thing about this is that it isn't clear whether the technology behind this energy weapon is Phaser based or Disruptor based. When fired, it shoots out pulses of blue colored energy at its targets. Because it's a straight weapon to hold, aiming is assumed to also be automatic to where ever the user points it.

A recent feature is Jacen can designed the Lance to only work for those with a certain DNA, like his or any other officers and the computer in the Lance will key in who used it last. If someone whose DNA isn't keyed into the lance, that person will be electrically shocked when trying to use it, most likely against the original user. It can also be used as a taser. The ends of the Lance can be charged with energy and all you have to do is stab. Jacen has apparently several of these in store, reportedly gave one to Lieutenant Commander Tash Zubowskivich

New features recently installed gives the F-Lances a grappling hook function, placed in as a stationary position to be set on auto fire, & finally it can be used as an energy grenade by setting it to over-load. Also it can turn into a flashlight. Jacen's newest features recently has given it the ability to extend sharp double edge blades and use it like a knife.

Like many in his family, he was spirited away from the homeworld and into the depths of the Alpha quadrant. He was moved to Earth at a very young age, most likely after he was born. Raised partly on Earth and then Mars. He was taught to learn all he can and later, he took a particular interests in the rare military of Earth. His training by his family made him an adept in combat of all forms. His entrance into the military took him into many conflicts in places where some might think he doesnt belong. He in all intents and purpose is a prince of a vast empire, but House Fanel as he knows is a family of warriors. They must all taste combat and taste much, Jacen has in his years. Afterwards, he joined Starfleet, following many paths his family has taken. He wonders all those relatives of his, some Captains of ships even. Jacen didnt wondered, but he can guessed why if he ever thought about it. His family always wants to keep an eye on the rest of the galaxy. His loyalty is always to his House, the ideals it stands for at least, not nessessarily whoever runs it. It isn't known if Jacen's loyalty to the Federation is a matter of convience, but as he was raised to never disobey and to always stand for the truth and justice, it really depends on the situation.

Jacen has a katana, specialized and custom to his liking. Supposively it's a blade that vibrates at a high frequency, making it cut a lot better. Despite having this weapon, Jacen is training in several forms of swordsmanship from fencing and other styles along with his multiple martial arts training from many forms his family possessed.

When Jacen reached a certain age, he took part in a secret experiment his family was trying to do to enhance the family bloodline with some slight genetic engineering. They don't want to start creating superhumans, but they want to slowly give their blood line and their followers a genetic edge over natural evolution. To do this with Jacen, they used an artifical creature created to imitate what we know as a Trill symbiont and implanted it into Jacen. Before they did, the Trill-like entity had been enginneered alot to adapt into a human and clings onto Jacen and cannot be removed. Essentially this changed Trill acts as a completely new organ to the body and enhances the physical and some mental capacities of the subject. Though this has not gone without some side effects. Over some time, Jacen had experienced some "growing pains" on and off. As time pass, the Trill pretty much stretches into the body of Jacen as it tries to become completely apart of it. Jacen knows little about this "addition" to his body but knows it's literally a part of him.

Only Julia Harden knows about the "organ" inside Jacen and no one else. Everything about it is classified by Starfleet Intelligence...what little they know about it. Jacen is an officially sponsored member into the Federation like many of his brethen since he and his family was never part of the Federation. What House Fanel offers to the Federation to keep the lid on things lets Jacen act a more freely as an agent. Though one thing's for sure, his loyalty is never called into question.

House Fanel

For more info, see House Fanel.

To this date, House Fanel is known to almost every major power in the Alpha Quadrant, but also an unknown power within itself. The fact that House Fanel is very mysterious, but every power including the Federation looks to them when they need...outside help. To this day, there is no exact numbers of how many who bear the name Fanel is out there in known space, but it is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands who are true born Fanels and those who were granted with the name Fanel.

Jacen's status within House Fanel is pretty high. The family follows the nobility. They are royals and have a rank from bottom to top with the one at top being called Duke. How the family functions is similiar, but not really the same as noble houses of old. Jacen is the 3rd prince with his twin brother Dante the second technically and the oldest brother Casval the 1st prince. Despite being the 3rd in line, there has been motion that might put him being the next head of the house, putting him in control of a very powerful faction.

It's location is in a system outside of Federation controlled space or any other space controlled by any of the other major powers. It was discovered hundreds of years ago when first explorers of Earth, primarily of House Fanel, took upon themselves and left Earth behind for a new beginning. They used their vast amount of wealth and power to build fleets of ships in secret and took to the stars until reaching the edge of known space or at least the edge of current Federation space. The fleet of House Fanel ships discovered a nebula. It had strange properties and no ship was able to pass by it straight. One would have to make several complicated plotted warp jumps, each time always random to match the flow of the disturbance inside. Once through, the fleet discovered paradise. A planet that isn't unlike Earth. There were strange elements on this world, but all the same, even indigenous animal life was very similar to the kinds on Earth. Since this was before the founding of the Federation and the prime directive, House Fanel had reportedly disrupted the life of this planet. On this world, there were many small bands of humanoid, whose physical appearance and genetic make up is similar to humans. How this is possible, no one is able to determined. There were millions of these people already living on Gaia. When the colonists of House Fanel came to this world, they claimed the entire planet for themselves. The people living on this world, amazing at the advanced technology of the colonists, accepted them right away and blended into a more modern society. Before House Fanel came, the planet was in the middle of a Renaissance period. In less than 2 generations, the entire planet was transformed into a successful colony of humanity.

Within that time to present, the "Empire" of Fanelia extended it's control across the planet and beyond throughout the Gaian system to the other planets and moons, transforming a would be back water area of space into a secret powerful nation protected by a nebula.

The Fanelian Star Force and Imperial Military

See also Gaian Star Force.

Little is known about the fleet size of House Fanel. It is rumored to be disturbing match to any single power in the Alpha Quadrant. Hundreds of ships even within the system.

The military itself seems to be almost unique compared to any single military in the entire galaxy and canon series of Star Trek. The military of House Fanel and the Gaian system are built solely for the realistic purpose of war and defense as opposed to how the other powers in the galaxy has shown their military prowess. Forget about the so called techno advantages of Starfleet, or the militaristic aggressive Romulans or even the warrior like Klingons and the suicidial like Jem'Hadar. This is a military that was built from the ground up that has lasted for centuries in tradition and tactics.
