Grrrath

Grrrath is the leader of the New Dawn Pack, a Grendellai group that obtained, through contacts in the Bung Kho Cartel, a good number of type-X phaser emitters. This significantly upgraded their phaser output and put them on the path to local domination. Starfleet, worried about this sensitive technology, sent the crew of USS Independence to find the source of the phaser smuggling and to remove the emitters that were already installed.

Grrrath negotiated with Captain Idril Mar to have access to visit DS17 during the downgrade of his ships. He plans to make engineering contacts there. Establishing an engineering school and moving his pack away from simple scavenging, he believes, will take them down the path to uniting all free Grendellai under his leadership.
