Character History

Daniel new what to do with his life as young as six. His father inspired him to become a Starfleet officer, but his mother wanted him to become a physician. In high school he achieved top grades, and was classed as a very hard working, consciencous person, who always put others first. He was known for his constant questioning of the teachers and sometimes came out on top. He was in his school's running team, and competed in many events. Whilst at Buckie High School Daniel made a friend for life, Kris Mann, they have continued to support each other through there choosen career's. When Daniel broke the news that he had applied for the academy, to Kris, he was devastated and this in turn affect Daniel. They both mutually agreed they would still be there for one another even when they had parted. They see each other as much as possible but it is difficult given Daniels choosen career.

Daniel went into denial over his fathers death and claimed he would gain revenge for his father. Daniel overcome this denial by the unlikly bonding of a young Klingon boy named Artok they formed a friendship that could never be defeated and both boys stayed in touchever since going there sperate ways. As a result of this friendship Daniel has become very fluent in Klingonese and enjoys many rituals of the Klingon Empire.

After his leaving of school he took a six month break to visit Qo'noS, and to support his friend Artok upon his joining of the Klingon Defense Force. After this he submitted his papers for the academy and gained entrance.

Strengths/Talents

• Daniel is a good listener and was asked by the Commandant of the Academy to consider a counselling position.
• Daniels communications skills are widly known amongst his class and are very reliable in situation.
• Daniel is a natural leader.
• Daniel always puts others before himself.

Limitations/Weaknesses

• Daniel is extrtemely known for relaxing in the Holodeck enjoying Medieval Time programmes.
• Daniel's most common weakness is his 'addiction' to coffee, nothing makes Daniel more happy when working hard to enjoy a good coffee. His particular favourite is Columbian.

Likes

• Daniel enjoys playing the piano and Commander Data once commented on this, ever since Commander Datas encouragement Daniel has been determined to do even better.
• Daniel enjoys a morning run in the English country side before his lessons start whether it be in the holodeck or the real thing.

Daniel seems to be a very determined young man who has many goals and ambitions. His Dads death seems to have made him a much stronger person and has had a dramatic impact on his life. Daniel is without a doubt a very outgoing and confident person who reacts well to group and singular activities. After the death of his father Daniel took it upon himself to be the man of the house and was under great stress to perform. He saw what his father did as an act of bravery for his crew and felt as if he had to do the same. After numerous counselling sessions Daniel decided that he had a very respectable father and decided that he had no obligation to live to his fathers standards. As a result of this Daniel has become a stronger psycholocicaly developed person and would make a fine officer some day. He always put others first and listens to thier problems offering excellent advice this will hold him in good stead for his first command. Daniel intially found it difficult to adapt to life in Starfleet and was rapidly falling behind in his classes. After a meeting with the Commandant he was ordered to seek council, to see whether this would continue or not. Lt.Cmdr Terri Farquhar requested Daniel to be placed under her care, to this day it is not clear why. Daniel stayed at a steady pace but was still behind the rest of his classmates. Daniel barely passed his first year.

Daniel continued to see Lt.Cmdr Farquhar and between them managed to solve his problems. Daniel worked extra hard to catch up with his class mates and sacrificed many pleasures to do so. After many months of physical training aswell as mental training Daniel sat his exams and passed with good grades. This not only boosted his confidence but what Daniel was about to achieve would boost the instucters and the Commandants confidence in Daniel.

Daniel decided it was time to end his sessions with Lt.Cmdr Farquhar having sought refugee with his class mates discussing issues. His classmates now confided in Daniel more than ever, and unbeknown to them, both the Commandant and Lt.Cmdr Farquhar noticed his extreme ability to deal with people and situations. Daniel was approached speratly on numerous occasions asking him to swap course from Security to Counseling, all times he refused. Daniel's confidence had grown so much that he was now questioning instructers and there theory's something he knew they didn't like and sometimes he knew it was futile but he got results with some of his reasoning.

Daniels final year was probably his best after his continued success in class and top marks. He prepared himself mentally for the Kobayashi Maru and Psyhc Test. Daniel aslo proved highly suited to the role of a Security Officer having gained top marks in his Command test. His teacher Lt.Cmdr Sidney Riley was later to become his first Officer. After succesfully completing all three tests Daniel proudly accpeted his graduation and subsequent promotion to Ensign. In attendance of his graduation was Lt.Cmdr Farquhar, who supported Daniel through his Academy Days.

Ensign

Daniel recieved a promotion after graduating from the Academy. Daniel's first vessel was the Prometheus Class vessel, USS Independence-A, under the command of Rear Admiral Anassasi. Daniel had an intresting first mission that took the Independence on a rescue mission. The USS Franklin was exploring an area in the Ithassa region known as Bull's Run when it suddenly disappeared, it's last known contact was from an emergency beacon. When the Independence arrived at the beacon the Independence soon found itself being pulled through a wormhole arriving at an alien way station. A great amount of data was accumulated for research. Three members of the crew including Wood were kidnapped. The Admiral, Lieutenants Wood and Makno were kidnapped and while the crew attempted an extraction the Admiral was able negotiate their release and subsequent return of the USS Franklin which had also been held captive. Once the Independence was allowed to leave the ship traversed a wormhole which brought them to SB118 although a temporal displacement occurred the Independence was quarantined. Facts on this mission are sketchy due to the Starfleet Division of Temporal Anomolies classifying the mission details. How ever something Daniel did on this mission earned him the respect of his crew and Daniel recieved a promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade on Stardate 238408.07.

Lieutenant Junior Grade

A celebration party held by Rear Admiral Anassasi, in order to celebrate the crews succesful mission and the promotion of some of its senior officers turned into a somewhat diaster. The holosuite turned hositle threatening the life of all senior staff aboard the Independence. It turned out to be a new lifeform, all crew members were saved. Woods second mission saw a Search and Rescue mission take place. Whilst looking for the USS Euhprates the USS Independence came under attack and was boarded by hostile aliens, believed to be T'lithians. During this mission Wood led Security forces through the ship sweeping for intruders and also carried out a retrive and escort mission. Also whislt serving this mission he acted as a Security/Marine Liason Officer alongside Trooper Somers. Thier succesful training prevailed when Security & Marine forces worked together to defend the crew and the USS Independence. During this eventful mission the Independence took minor casualties, losing sixteen crew members and one MIA, although believed to be dead, Gunnery Sargent Highway.
