History

A native, Esoqq, is one of Captain Picard's two authentic fellow hostages abducted by aliens who want to study their styles of authority and leadership. Esoqq knows of the Mizarians but not the Bolians. The meal patty given the hostages is poisonous to Esoqq, who can go no more than 3 or 4 days without eating.

Recently, though the discovery of ancient ruins located in the Alpha Isles, a new historical context has been revealed for the Chalnoth. Millenia before their current nomadic state, they were a much more focused and organized race. Enjoying a sort of "Golden Age" under the hand and riches of a dynasty of warrior kings who controlled various fiefdoms. Little is known about the downfall of this "Golden Age", but debate rages in anthropological circles.

Government

They have a violent-natured, beast-like race, in which anarchy without any government or authority is the rule. If any one area of Chalna can be said to be governed by anyone, it is certainly the person with the biggest weapon. The Chalnoth people are carnivorous, sometimes even feasting on enemies.

Description

The Chalnoth are vaguely doglike humanoids with large fangs and long fur.
