Caitríona was born on Earth. Her parents (Kathleen and Patrick) were Irish and raised her along with her brother (Anthony) on a small farm in the south of Ireland. She had a good upbringing, she was thought of manners and right from wrong. Her parents would have done anything for their kids. Caitríona would have been described as a shy child, usually listening rather than speaking. She would enjoy going to the seaside, the fresh air and the smell of the sea always brought her great comfort.

Tales of the state of the Bajoran homeland were in their peak on Earth, lots of wounded - militia and freedom fighters. Even though a small few (from her somewhat small-minded/gossipping community) may have been wary of interacting with a Bajoran at the time - "He could be a terrorist" some would whisper. - Caitríona wasn't worried about Bikar at all. The two become close, lovers, after a few years he even proposed. Caitríona was the happiest she had ever been and it was total bliss.

In 2388, the year Bajor joined the Federation, Caitríona accompanied Bikar to Bajor to see his home and also meet those he cared for, however, an old Cardassian bomb which was hidden during the Occupation was trigged accidentally with Bikar and Cayne - among many other civilians and military being in close proximity. The explosion was devastating, and even though she survived she suffered from psychological and physical damage.


It was her brother who convinced her to eventually apply to Starfleet Academy. She was still so doubtful - why would they want me? - she would think. But they did, and she couldn't have dropped her nursing post quick enough.
