Kathesis Pact
The Kathesis Pact is a stellar alliance of Mislenites, Nygeans, and Pensarkans.
In 2399, the Pact filed an official protest with the Federation Diplomatic Corp against Vidiians’ attendance at a science exhibition hosted on Amity Outpost. The exhibition was held in conjunction with an Antaran class rally race. The protest was filed by Gelehi Falshikai, a Mislenite who was Envoy of the Kathesis Pact[1]. The Envoy on behalf of the Pact threatened economic sanctions along with blockades of the Nuriootpa solar nebula, the system is home to Amity. In a press release, the Kathesis pact stated they could not “allow any species or polity to become complicit in their attempts to rehabilitate themselves while not properly addressing their past.”[2]
After meeting with the pact’s envoy Gelehi, Ambassador Vataix swiftly dispatched the outpost’s attached Defiant class ship, the USS Independence-B, to inform the Vidiians of the objections.
During the holding of the rally, the Pact warped a battleship into the the solar nebula with shields activated and weapons drawn. They were protesting not only the continued presence of the Vidiians at Amity Outpost, albeit still on their own ship and not permitted to disembark onto Amity, but also at Ambassador Rivi Vataix and the Federation Diplomatic Corp personnel meeting with the Vidiians onboard their vessel, the Indefatigable[3].
After the end of the Rally, and a diplomatic meeting between the Vidiians and the Kathesis Pact, the Pact presented a proposal for a formal embassy along with a proposal for trade rights and concessions, believing that trade would benefit both economies. In return, the Pact offered to help patrol Federation colonies[4].
The agreement became the subject of multiple reviews by the Federation Diplomatic Corp and Starfleet - the latter identifying a clause in the agreement that would allow the Pact to curtail the Federations operations near their borders. That clause was significantly reworked, and another draft submitted back to the Pact[5]. Crewman Annamae Barberra had been heavily involved in the final review of the agreement[6]. By Stardate 240011.06, The Undersecretary for Commerce sent their final approval on all of Amity's upcoming treaties and trade agreements, which included the Kathesis Pact agreement[7].
