While there are numerous crew lounges, capable of providing a recreational distraction for a handful of personnel at a time, there is only one mess hall. The mess halls on Intrepid Class vessels are located on Deck 2, section 13, and feature several large forward-looking windows. Although food service in most mess halls is provided solely by several food replicator terminals, some crews opt for installing a makeshift kitchen, where they can use plants grown in the airponics bay or foraged on planets to design their own culinary dishes to supplement replicator use.
