Mission Data
The USS Gemini left Deep Space 224 after receiving word that another ship had gone missing in the Borderlands. This time, the ship was the USS Spartan, commanded by Captain Jeremy Clarkson. Captain Liam Frost set a course for the last known location of the Spartan and called a briefing with the senior staff. With everyone assigned their tasks, the crew got to work, knowing that time was precious.
Suspicions of possible Klingon involvement rose when it was discovered that the Spartan had been fitted with technology from the SCE that allowed the Spartan to appear as any vessel on sensors. First Officer LtCmdr. T’Mar ordered the Chief Engineer LtCmdr. Alex Blair to find a way to outthink the SCE and find a weakness; however, the Gemini got a lead when there was evidence of a battle near the Klingon border. While they were too far away to identify the ships, there were signs of a Klingon vessel being involved.
While the Gemini changed course, Frost and T’Mar discussed the situation further. There was one possibility that could not be ignored: that Clarkson has gone rogue.
Shortly after crossing the Klingon border in search of evidence, the USS-Gemini made contact with the Federation vessel USS-Achilles and the Klingon IKS Su'wamh. After a tense round of negotiations, Captains Mar, Frost and Jov'Rak agreed that the Achilles would go back to Federation space, while the Gemini and the Su'wamh would continue to investigate. During a private conversation with his Klingon analogue, Captain Liam Frost managed to turn the joint investigation into a race between the Gemini and the Su'wamh, with the choice of the culprit's fate as the prize.
Meanwhile, the USS-Gemini's Engineering department had devised a way to circumvent the Spartan's stealth technology by focusing on the rogue ship's gravitational distortion signature, which couldn't be changed by its camouflage. A research on captain Jeremy Clarkson's past had also revealed that he had lost his daughter to a rogue Klingon's attack on the USS-Hermes, giving him a powerful reason to seek revenge against the Empire.
When the Gemini's sensors picked up a nearby fight between another Klingon ship and what seemed to be an overpowered Orion freighter, the Federation ship and the Klingon vessel raced to the site of the battle at breakneck speed.
The USS-Gemini having beaten the IKS Su'wahm at the post, Captain Jov'rak grudgingly gave the Federation crew ten minutes to solve the situation. Having managed to determine that the would-be Orion freighter was in reality the rogue Spartan, Captain Liam Frost ordered his rogue counterpart to surrender. However, Captain jeremy Clarkson, mad with revenge, ordered his crew to open fire on the Gemini. Weakened by her previous battles, the Defiant's shields broke first, giving the crew of the Gemini the opportunity to end the battle without further bloodshed by beaming the rogue crew into custody. The IKS Su'wamh tried to beam Captain Clarkson away, but Ensign Randall Shayne, the Gemini's helmsman, managed to steal the rogue Captain from the very Klingon beam, along with a significant part of their transporter room. Badly damaged, the Klingon ship couldn't do anything to prevent the USS-Gemini to destroy the now-empty Spartan and to bring the rogue crew back to Federation space to face judgement.
