Background
His parents, Ptollian and Yreina, relocated to earth, where Ptollian worked as a counselor supporting Star Fleet officers who encountered traumatic events in deep space. Yreina was an artist, focusing on sculpture. They became enamored with Earth culture, and named their sons using human names.
Yreina is a member of the Fourth House, but so far down the lineages that she should never be called on to serve the government or the House. She is a Daughter of the Rian family within the Fourth House. Elliot is a Son Ascendant, on paper, but only because his parents filed the appropriate paperwork.
Elliot found his primary and secondary schooling a bit boring, as he constantly wanted to be doing something, rather than sitting still.
On an excursion to Chile, Elliot discovered racing. When he got home, he explored every kind of racing he could, competing against anyone who’d join him. At first it was horses, then bikes, motorcycles, cars, and finally hover vehicles.Over the years, he learned how to drive just about anything available on Earth or in the holodecks.
When his mental powers came in, he began to include it in his racing. Catching the emotional inputs from the other racers helped him know if they were nervous, confident, or distracted, which gave him an edge over them. His parents insisted that he should never read another’s mind, without consent, and they were very stern at any breach of that rule.
After finishing his secondary education, he decided not to follow his mother into the arts. Psychiatry or Psychology, like his father, were never an option for him. He wanted to keep finding new ways to race, to fly, to drive… so he took the tests for Star Fleet Academy.
At the Academy, he majored in Helm/Navigation, and minored in Ops/Com. He very much enjoyed the piloting classes, learning how each ship functioned brought him so much joy. The engineering was interesting in that it explained how the ship moved, but beyond that, Elliot lost interest. The tactics and diplomacy courses were also enjoyable. He struggled with the physics and maths a bit… but after coming close to failing a course, Elliot found a tutor who could help him get a grasp on how to study.
