How To
This is an instructional on how to create the Fleet Writer Serial Numbers as seen on Fleet Writer Serials.
In order to construct a Writer Serial Number, you need the following elements, the writer's First Ship, their start year and month, and their first character's first and last name.
From these elements, we will use:
- First Letter of First Ship
- Year of Start (if format of Stardate)
- Month of Start
- First Initial of First Name
- First Initial of Last Name (or 1, if character only has 1 name)
Finally, if everything above is different than anyone else's, the last element is a 0 (zero), otherwise you will increment it.
Once you have all the elements, you combine them like in the example below:
- Shelther Faranster -
- (Apollo, 2392, 01, Sundassa, Faranster, 0)
Finished Serial:
- A239201SF0
Now, if you have for example where you have two people start in 2392, during the month of June. One is Robert Jones (graduated the academy 239206.10), and the other is Richard Jackson (graduated the academy 239206.24). Robert Jones ends up on the Constitution, and Richard Jackson ends up on the Columbia, you could potentially end up with two of the same serial numbers:
- C239206RJ0
However, since we have that 0 at the end, we would start with first graduated (if they both graduated at the same time, then we would go with first applied).
- Robert Jones: C239206RJ0
- Richard Jackson: C239206RJ1
